Sony CDX-GT460US for WagonR - Advise on price / speakers / installation - Team-BHP

I am a new member here and this is my first post. I am from Bangalore and have booked a WagonR VXI, which would be delivered on 1st August '2007. So thought of spending a little time on the forum deciding a good music system for my new car.

My budget is around 15,000/-. I needed a CD/MP3 player with front USB and IPod input. Have zeroed down on Sony CDX-GT460US. Need advice on the following:

1) Grey Market vs. With Bill (Sony CDX-GT460US)
With Bill MRP - 8990 /- (Auto Grid, RT Nagar)
National Market, Bangalore - 5400 /-

2) Speakers
Rear: JBL GT-0937 - 2,900 /- (National Market, Bangalore)
Front: JBL CS-2104 - 1500 /- (National Market, Bangalore)

Rear: Sony 6938 - 2600 /- (National Market, Bangalore)

Rear: Sony 6932 - 2000 /- (National Market, Bangalore)
Front: Sony 1022 - 950 /- (National Market, Bangalore)

Rear: Sony 6932 - 2700 /- (With Bill - Auto Grid, RT Nagar)
Front: Sony 1022 - 1350 /- (With Bill - Auto Grid, RT Nagar)

3) Installation
Front Speakers : Dashboard vs. Front Doors
Rear Speakers : Dicky vs. Plank

Need your expert advice whether I can go for grey market (National Market, Bangalore), as the prices seem to be almost 40% lesser. It is a known shop and the product is genuine for sure. Do we really need warranty? Any other store where you recommend I can buy it from?

I am not sure as to what kind of installation of speakers would go well. I don't want to compromise on the dicky space by installing a plank. Whom to get installation from? Need some expert mechanic's name...

Do you recommend Sony Speakers or JBL Speakers.

Also, any feedback on all those who are using Sony CDX-GT460US . How is it doing? Do you recommend it or know of any other close model with front USB?

Expecting a detailed answer from all the experts out here. :-)

No detailed answer here, but just a prediction.

No one would advice you to buy a sony, let alone an all sony system. aren't you a typical newbie here ? you will get your answers shortly. cheers.

P.S. I have a sony DVD HU & Sony Amp & a Sony Ericsson W550i. LOL

Hi...

If buying with bill, Sony is VFM. If buying from the grey market pioneer is supposed to the better.

I guess Pio HU, with JBL speakers would make a good combo.

After reading the above three posts, I have decided to go for a Pioneer 7950. Costs 9000/- in the Grey Market.

Can someone please suggest a good pair of speakers? I am left with 6-7k (total budget is around 15k).

Also, where would you recommend installing the speakers - both front and rear?

Like i suggested over PM, JBL & Boston make better speakers than sony/pioneer. Listen to both & decide.

With a budget of 15K I would spend half on the HU and half on the speakers. Too much on the HU and too little on the speakers will mean that the speakers will be weak link. Simarly too much on the speakers and too little on the HU does not make sense either. See if you need teh features of teh 7950 or can make do with teh 6950. That will save you 1K which you can spend on speakers.

Blau's THX range, JBL's CS range, etc.. are good speakers.
