Which will be the best grounding point for my amplifier, if I install it on the left rear seat of my Santro? I wish to avoid drilling a new hole, if possible.

read the whole thread..this is way beyond my knowledge of ICEs hence gained a lot of knowledge...as a matter of fact I was of the notion that Pio 7950UB was better than Sony CDX 660US and that's where my knowledge comes to an end

...anyways will continue to follow this thread to learn more about ICEs

And that's the fun thing about a forum sabre. I learn too over here. Every single day.

My external antenna has got rusted & cannot be pulled out. Can I fit an internal one? What would be the advantages & disadvantages of an internal antenna? Where would it be fitted & would the wiring be visible? Thanks in advance.

Blaupunkt has an internal antenna that mounts on the inside of the front windshield - adhesive mounting, no drilling. The wiring, if done correctly, should not be visible.

But not as effective as it should be!! Better to go in for external one IF you listen to radio. I hardly do, so internal one is OK for me.

Try using the seat belt screw or the seat mounting screw cos both of these are going into the chassis

dont forget to remove the paint from the screw

Thanks DerAlte, panky12345 & simply_sunny001. How much does the Blau antenna cost? Is there an antenna which mounts on the internal rear view mirror?

Internal ones dont work well and this is my personal experience,All TATA cars come with an internal antenna pasted on the windshield near the rear view mirror.

problems faced are imperfect reception, pasting going kaput at times and that might be cos of bad quality in TATA products

but still try to find any external robust antenna(like the one in Ford ikon/skoda) and shd cost you around 500 bucks in local market.

Thanks simply_sunny001. The popular brand in Kolkata is ER, costing less than 200 for external & less than 300 for internal. Anyone know of better brands?

I have a 30 month old Indica. It came with an internal antenna. No problems till date, and the reception is superb( better than my sister's alto with an external antenna, which still perplexes me till date )

Why not install two antennas ( both internal ) and then solder the wires from both of them together and then add the jack. You should have awesome reception then. I am not sure whether this would work, but can't think of any reason it shouldn't

wont there be an impedance mismatch between the HU and the 2 parrlleled antennas? to do this one would need some way to switch between the 2 antennas (which ever one had better reception) or multiplex the signal. I have seen this principle used oon some HUs to minimise "picket-fencing".
