Mmm... I love unboxing pics!

Those MDF rings for the midranges are a work of art!

So when is the BIG day?

Me, too. In fact I must have unboxed my ICE under some pretext or other at least half a dozen times already

They sure are. And the name of the artist is Jasdeep Brar @Autophile

Well, the front doors have been cut for the midbass speakers & the rear seat modified to receive the amp. Need to get some banana connectors, heat shrink tubing & maybe a grille for the sub, some more advice from Jasdeep & then I should finally be ready. Would love to receive some tips from you too.

So finally it has started.

Doc, are you doing all this cutting-shutting and mods yourself ? Or is your installer giving you regular visits ?

nura, great choice of equipment there! I'm sure your installation is going to be rocking!

Congratulations! I will watch this thread to see the final install pictures. Good luck!

@Shuvc - My installer marked the front doors. I had them gas cut from a local workshop I have been visiting for bodywork for more than 25 years. My installer told me that the amplifier cannot be installed on the rear seat. However Jasdeep Brar (Autophile) patiently explained to me how it could be done & the same workshop carried out this modification too.

@Rocksterraghu & Faithless 1984 - Thanks for your appreciation.

Can I request someone to post a picture of the kind of nut & bolt or screw needed to fix an MDF spacer ring to the front door? The head will naturally have to be buried in the spacer ring.
Thanks in advance.

You could ask for self-tapping sheet metal screw at a hardware store. Length of screw should be thickness of spacer + 1/2" at least (but not much more than that).

If you use bolt + nut, M4 or M5 would do - length as above. BUT don't forget to pick up lock washers - split or tooth type. Use those below the nut to prevent the nut from coming loose later. Use pliers to hold the nut (inside the door cavity) while you tighten the bolt from the front.

For insetting the screw / bolt in the spacer, you need to countersink the screw hole of the spacer. Can be roughly cut with a sharp wood chisel held at an angle (jugaad method), or you can find a counter-sinking bit at the hardware store (especially ones near industrial areas).

PS: Daktar-babu, we are waiting eagerly for in-process photus

The door-cutting & rear seat modding was done in a workshop near Jadu Babu's Bazaar, the ICE installation will hopefully be done next week at home in Ballygunge. Plan to fix the sub into the box & the midrange into the MDF ring myself (with a lot of help from JB).

That's nice. Do it on a wknd and invite me to watch/help.
Will also take you up on that offer for a drink

I saw them fit the sub into the box as well as the speakers on the spacer rings during the Phoenix ICE install. Didn't seem too complicated, but then again, it's always easy watching an experienced installer do his stuff!

Sure. You're welcome. Any way. I think even after the installation is done there will be many weekends of tuning & damping & maybe eventually an HU upgrade.

Is it important which end of an RCA cable goes into the HU & which end into the amp?
The reason I ask is that the two ends of my Audison interconnects are shaped slightly differently from each other.

nura, as far as i know its basically same....since audison are a high quality brand, there might be difference to provide you some ease while installing the same in HU.
