Where exactly are the 6x9's placed? I thought the rear headset well would get in the way? Are you able to take a picture and post the fitting?

Hi,

The 6x9's are fitted in the OE locations only with some minor alterations. The car had come with Pioneer 6x9's fitted by the previous owner which I junked.

The front OE location can house a 5" co-axial with some very minor modification to the speaker trim.

Not taken any pics of the car to date as am too lazy to do so. Will upload as & when I click them.

Following your advice, I had the speaker locations opened today and what you have done; looks very easily attainable.

Choices:
Head Unit: Pioneer 7950 - Rs 9500 (Without B&W)
(RRP Quoted for Speakers)
Speakers Front: JBL GTO427 - Rs 2750 or JBL GTO527 - Rs 3250
Rear: JBL GTO937 - Rs 4950
(Also thinking of getting all the wiring changed, any recommendations?)

With the money I save by NOT choosing Illusion or Hertz, I could put towards an amplifier maybe or other items for the car. (Please note that this is mainly background music and not serious music listening)
How would the above combination sound?
What could the lowest prices I could get the above for in Pune?
Anyone already got the above fitted in Pune that maybe able to give me a demo?

Yup raja, Given your requirements the choice is absolutely fine. Install amp/lights etc with the money saved.

I would prefer a head unit with lesser "Bling" factor to go with such a classic car .Like this one.

I would seriously consider the Alpine; I need Ipod connectivity, is there an Alpine model that comes close to the features offered by the Pioneer?
I looked through the Alpine Europe/Australia websites, the 9845 that's pictured above, does not feature in the catalogues any more.
The only model that I like is the 9887.
What is the cheapest that HU is available without B&W? (I am trying to compare prices on a like for like basis).

Nearly decided on a system for the Mercedes.

HU: Pioneer 7950
Front: Hertz DCX 100
Rear: Hertz DCX 130

I am already hassling Gunbir via PM, but I thought, why should he be the only one to get dis-pleasure on me being a nuisance.

Looking for Sub+Enclosure and 4 channel amp that would complement the above Hertz speakers and HU. Budget approx Rs 17,000 for the lot.
One option is the New GT5 Subwoofer and GT5 Amp when they get released, but what else is out there?
Enclosure I would prefer to buy ready made as I am not having much luck with a great (only average) installers here in Pune.
Not getting an opportunity to try ANY of the speakers here, I am having to buy these blindly and hope I have made a good choice.

Raja....with no pointers to any brand, whatsoever, I honestly think that YOU listen to the equipment BEFORE buying. It happens quite an often that people buy based on recommendations without auditioning and later regret. Theres a lot of difference when you go looking at specs and when you actually listen to the sound. Further, as you pointed out that you have a medical condition as regards listening, its pretty much necessary that you listen, make a comparison first and then decide.
