Some clarification about parallel and series connection...

1) Two 4 ohms sub connected in parallel will run at 2 ohms

2) Two 4 ohms sub connection in series will run at 4 ohms

3) Two 2 ohms subs connected in parallel will run at 1 ohms

4) Two 2 ohms subs connected in series will run at 2 ohms

Are all the above four statements true?

Or wat blueraven quoted is true? may be i mis understood him

Amit -

1) Two 4 ohms sub connected in parallel will run at 2 ohms

2) Two 4 ohms sub connection in series will run at 8 ohms

3) Two 2 ohms subs connected in parallel will run at 1 ohms

4) Two 2 ohms subs connected in series will run at 4 ohms

in simple terms -

in parallel you divide the ohms in this case 4/2 = 2 ohms

in series you multiply the ohms in this case 4*2 = 8 ohms

Consider the calculation by saintsinnner, other than the 1500.1 i am also giveing thought to another mono amp.

Came to know about a Hifonics Bxi2006D 2000 RMS Super D class mono amp.

Specs as follows:

650 watts x 1 channel (4ohms)
1300 watts x 1 channel (2 ohms)
2000 watts x 1 channel (1 ohms)

Now consider that i take Two L7 15" which run at 1000 RMS at 2ohms, and connect them i parallel. So now in a parallel connection i have TWO subs operating at 2000 watts rms @ 1 ohm? Am i right?

Also this HiFonics amp runs at 2000 watts x 1ch at 1 ohm...

So it seems that Hifonics Bxi2006D might run the L7 15" better than the 1500.1, as even the subs now arranges in parallel connection will deliver 2000 at 1 ohm ...wat say?

Am i right? Hope i am not missing anything

How is Hifonics as a brand? Also as LBM suggest.....its way cheaper than the zx1500.1, which is prices at Rs 76,000. Hifonics is much cheaper than this kicker amp. Also HiFonics looks to satisfy two L7 15" in parallel more than 1500.1.

Note: Still budget is not on my mind. So, If anyone feels that hifonics isnt better than zx1500.1 please suggest...i dont mind sticking to the expensive 1500.1 amp

I take audio too seriusly

Specs for the HiFonics amp

Yup, thats makes a 1 ohm...but, is it stable? i don't know!

If price is not on your mind..., how about the DLS CAD15?
or the MTX TA81001? - both as 1 ohm stable as per the site..

Even i want to know about Hifonics, i am looking at the following amps for my ride -

MTX TC8001
Kicker ZX750.1
PHOENIX GOLD RYVAL V8001
HIFONICS BXI-1206D

Hifonics is the only one stable at 1 ohm.. thats what they say....

any suggestions?

Hifronics is stable NOT only at 1 ohm but @ 4, 2 and 1 ohms. 1 ohm stable means it'll not deteriorate itself even if its presented 1 ohm load.

The brutus series amps are some rock solid monoblocks. They are priced well and churn out some good power and sound quality. I had installed a 1206d last saturday with a pair of Brutus subs @ 1 Ohm, sounds really good and can keep up with any brand likes of Kicker / Rockford Power Series.

Further confusion...about parallel and series.

Facts about the type of connection

Parallel connection:
If both of the speakers have an impedance of 2 ohms, the total impedance will be 4 ohms.

Series Connection:
If both of the speakers have an impedance of 2 ohms, the total impedance will be 1 ohms.

This is crystal clear...but here is where confusion build up. Tell me can i have a pair of 2 ohms subs wired so that the final impedence of both the subs is 2 ohms?

From the official kicker webiste i got this wiring diagram. Note that this wiring diagram depicts how to connect a pair of L7 15" 2 ohm subs to a single zx2500.1

1 images uploaded on AllYouCanUpload on Sep 26, 2007 12:07 PM PDT - Free Image Hosting

or
FreeImageHosting.net Hosting Service

which ever link works.....they are the same pics

So wat wud you call this type of connection? Paralle/ sereies/ or something else?

Hmm... since the amp is rated at 2500 x 1 rms @ 2ohms.....they must be trying to get final impedence of 2 ohms from a pair of L7 15" 2 ohm subs!!

Since the sub is rated at 1000 rms at 2 ohms....to me it looks the setup is

(subs) 2000 rms @ 2 ohms with a single 2500 x 1 @ 2 ohms (amp).

Toh kis type ka connection hai yeh?? Parallel /series ya fir kuch aur??

Exact opposite, If both speakers have Impedance of 2 Ohms, then the resulting parallel connect will lead into 0.5 Ohm, this is considering you talking about L7s which are dual coil subs,
hence C1(s1)||C2(s1) = 2||2 = 1 Ohm
and C1(s2)||C2(s2) = 2||2 = 1 Ohm
Now, C1(s1)||C2(s1) || C1(s2)||C2(s2) = 0.5 Ohm.

One thing you are getting confused with is the Impedance of subs, in case of rwo single 2 Ohms subs connecting them in parallel results to 1 Ohm and in series results 4 Ohms.
BUT, if you have a Dual 2 Ohms subwoofer, you can either connect the two coils in parallel or series, so when it comes to a DVC consider each coil like an individual sub itself while calculating (if that helps you)

In case of pairing up with the KX2500.1 with 2 L7s, if you want to drive the amp at 2Ohms, you will have to acheive a final resulting impedance of 2 Ohms, which you already know,
This is how you acheive it,
Connect the Coil1 and Coil2 of Sub1 in Series, and at the same time,
Coil1 and Coil2 of Sub2 in Series, then connect the 2 subs in parallel, then you get a resulting Impedance of 2 Ohms.

This is what you mean to say? Check out the Wiring Option #2 on the link below.

2 Ohm DVC speakers = 2 Ohm Load

Rockford Fosgate® - Woofer WiringWizard

Correct?
