Just booked new city Vtec plus - what ICE Mods?

Hi guys

Its my 1st post here ..
been reading on for some time about mods & drags ..

my new vtec plus - a black beauty is set to arrive next week ..
(was initially planing to go for SX 4ZXI -but long wiat time + tacky interiors made mne change my mind)
wont be doing any mods on this except ICE for atleast 6 months, i think

was just wondering if i should give back the alpine set -Hu + speakers and do a complete new installation
Or go for just new amp +subs with the alpine set..

also i aint getting any discounts on the new vtec with any dealer, is that the case everywhere? i am in Mumbai

An amp would be good but you might also consider getting good speakers.

Hi,

You can ask for additional discounts from the dealer on the following
1. 25% discount on the insurance amount
2. there is a customer referral fee of rs. 5000, refereee should be an existing customer, each would get about rs 2500 between buyer and referee, even if you do not know anyone who has an honda city, the dealer themselves would put some customer id and willl give it to you. the catch here, you willl not get cash discount, but you will get gift voucher sort, which you can adjust against accessort or service charges
3. if you belong to a corporate, check for tie-ups and discount

i got my car in chennai and got all the above 3, though everything came to barely rs 15000

and ikon ..that referral thing sounds cool. hadnt heard of that before .will chk it out .had asked aboutthe insurance didnt get that ..

Update.. car was supposed to coem on 15th .now i come to know that theres some shortage of the vtec kit ..and there will a further delay ...

Grrr..and i thought very few ppl take the vtec...

which alpine HU are they offering now? most Alpine HUs are good. maybe the dealer can upgrade your HU.

the speakers are not that good so replace them.

Thanks guys .im hoping it comes before this weekend .so i can get the windows doen with films and atleast do some test on the ICE .wont get any time during the week

navin..NOt quite sure mate ..its a 2 dIN mp3 player ..from alpine .thats all i know .im willing to keep the Hu but maybe replace the speakers ,a nd add a sub + amp.. and then add a 7 " lcd.. also.

any pointers ? bass tube or box? what brands ?not very knowledgable about this stuff ..till now had Pios & blau speakers .

change speakers: JBL/Infintiy/Illusion/Hertz/etc... 15K
add a sub and a monoblock: 15K
if you want to add a 4 ch. amp to drive the speakers you will need to use high level inputs or a speaker level to RCA level adapter.

4 ch amp - you kinda left it optional ..woudnt i need it to drive the speakers?
not clear about this (a 2 ch amp was a std set up in all my previous cars ..sub was optional ). maybe 8 k..

so i still have some budget left -12 -17K

and il chnage the speakers after maybe 2 weeks or so to see if necessary .
if necess will go for any of what u suggested .

or then go in for 7 'Lcd in back of rear seat - 7k

any suggestions on mumbai dealers?

asking me abut posting pics wil generate a lot of laughs from the old time ICE guys. i dont own a camera, i am illterate when it comes to tech stuff.

Your budget is 40K not including the HU?

1. what HU is Honda installing in your car? OFten you can get them to change it to something more "suitable". My mom did that. She got an ipod compatible HU in exchage for the standard HU in her NHC-CVT.

2. at 40K...
Front and rear speakers: Illusion Electra, JBL GTO, Hertz Dieci: 10K/ 1pairs of 6" components and 1 pair fo 6" coax.
Amps: JBL GT5/Pio 6300/Blau GT4/Kenwood 8401: 7K and JBL GTO 301.1 monoblock for 12K
Sub: JBL GT5 in box: 5K
Damping front doors: 4K
Wires and Install: 3K

that monobloc looks damn expy (is it top of line)but ..heard they come for around 7


update: my car isnt even in prodction yet ..supposedly this 10th anniversary cars are in extreme short supply.im likely to get it only by 27Th..

it must be the Alpine 560. it has one preamp output. wonder if they'll change that to any Alpine HU that has 3 pre amp outs. RCA level signals are so much cleaner. Do you need cassette?

BTW the 560 is a very nice looking HU, simple and understated.

took it for spin round worli seaface ..found the brakes quite hard and very ineffective ..is it because its new and it should get ok after the 1st service ..

about the Ice.

HU its not a 560 ..
in fact its 2 din but doesnt have a cassette .like they had promsed me .
gonna ask them y .
also i cant see any aux out ...
or any mention of pre out in the manual specs ..

The Model no is alpine - W 925 .
couldnt find it all on google ?

any idea guys

oh ya and the speakers are crap .so they gotta go instantly

this weekdn some good installs will go in ..

BTW im disposing off a NHC gxi 2006 and santro xg 2004.if anyone needs .

Put a picture of the W925 or whatever that is and our "Google-Meister" wll hunt it down along with it's specs.

You took delivery? Now they (Honda) wont cooperate. When my mom got her NHC she refsude to take delivery because the sales person had promised her a ipod ready HU and the Hu they were offering was not. Becuase she refused o take delivery they were forced to coperate as they had already registered the car in her name.

In any case try and get Honda to change the HU to any current Alpine HU (see Alpine's website for currnet model numbers).
