Hmm thats a good idea. Only trouble is that the 6" and 4" will both need to be crossed over at about 400 Hz or so. Such a crossover is not available in most amps. And I know Navin will now say I could design one in my sleep.

Very good so next time you sleep, please design one or tell me how to make one or what position you sleep in to design one. I want to take this up to see how it sounds. Let me rephrase that, next time you sleep alone, not with your boyfriends, ok?

Actually, I don't know if you noticed but HERTZ is one brand that has a large range of drivers for DIY or Active use. You can take any of their drivers, and use with their custom crossovers in many possible permutations / combinations. Some examples:

Now I am not being biased but even though we represent two more speaker brands, the flexibility and choice that HERTZ offers is unparalleled. The ease with which their drivers fit stock locations helps a lot when doing modern cars like Skoda, Porsche, Mercedes etc.

Like B&T said, most amps wouldn't be able to do that. Though there are amps such as the Audison LRx 6.9 which will allow you to do a complete active three way setup through the amp crossover section itself. Example:

No Navinji, I am no Guru. Else I would have noticed that this thread is for the Laura Elegance... And the Elegance comes with 2way fronts and 2way rears. Its the L&K Laura that comes with 3way fronts and rears.

So Brett needs 2ways and theres no 2ways about that. So, much ado about nothing...

Steg also offers the same with its Steg Audio Quality X-over Modules (AQXM Modules). But then again Steg are no ordinary amplifier.

Also they offer accurate results unlike the rotating knobs like in pot design cannot achieve.

As posted by Moral few posts ealier the same has been impemented in one car in mumbai on the Illusion Audio Carbon Series Speakers and Steg Qmos Series Amplifers.

Two channels of the QM75.4X drive the front 8" midbasses while the other two power the 5.25s and the tweets. The Illusion Audio first order passive crossover is utilised for the 5.25 and the 1" Low Fs tweeter while the 8" hands over to the 5.25" at 450 Hz, actively by use of Steg Audio Quality X-over Modules (AQXM Modules).

not really. 200hz would do fine. If a 4" woofer is Xoed at 12db/200hz it will be much relieved.

GUNBIR! You took us all up the garden path. Geez. Poor Brett. he probably left the forum thinking that 3 mad men (B&T, Gunbir and myself) were going to cut up his door panels and re work them to accomodate 3 ways. Sorry Brett. I think all 3 of us should appologise. Brett I am sending you my personal appology via PM.

MF, active XOs are often just cookie cutter designs. B&T does not even have to design one.

Navin Ji I am with you on this...Sorry Brett for the same now you can go for Carbon series for sure, It might move your budget but the results will be mind boggling, go for a Demo to B&T for the same.

Carbon series are 25K per pair. He can afford 2 pairs of Carbon speakers but no amp!

sorry guys been a little busy at work.

you guys really didnt need to apologise at all. but thanks for all your help so far.

now about the carbon series - ull have only suggested two pairs. now am i to assume that they components of what. cause im really lost now.

honestly i need to actually see what u guys are talkin about cause i cannot understand jack of what is being said here. sorry for my ignorance, but please bear with me.

also what is B&T.

are these speakers available in bby, if so where????

Brett, for 50k here's what would be the revamped suggestions:

1) Front Compos - Illusion Audio EL 6.1, JBL GTO 607, Infinity Ref 6010 cs, Illusion Audio Luccent LM6.1, Hertz 165, etc. etc. (Starting from 6-11k)
2) Rear Compos - Same as above in the 5.24" driver. (Same range)
3) Amp(s) - 4-ch amp for the speakers (JBL GTO 75.4II, Ground Zero GZTA 4.120MK², Blau GT4, Pio 6300, etc.) from 7 - 12k
4) Sub - sub capable of about 400W RMS (Ground Zero, JBL, Hertz, Hifonics, etc etc) About 6-8k.
Amp for the sub -
Panasonic CY-PA2003U]
Best amp to drive a sub IMO. Will be cheaper in the gulf where you are right now. In India it is about 8k.
5) Wiring - 2 x 8 gauge wiring kits about 6k (Scosche, EFX, Ground Zero, Monster, etc.)
