| Hi Gurus, This is my first post on team-bhp! I have a maruti swift zxi - petrol version. My music system specs: Pioneer DEH 5850 I have installed 4 x6" Coustic US CX603 speakers on the front and rear doors. Specs for the speakers are mentione below: Tweeter: 6-1/2" Triaxial-Poly Woofer, 13mm Tweeter, Piezo Super Tweeter Power Handling: 50W RMS/150W Max Power Sensitivity (1W/1m): 88.0dB Frequency Response: 70Hz to 20kHz (±3dB) I have been having this for an year now. Now, i want to add an sub-woofer to my car. I know this will eat up a lot of space now. Also, my knowledge on this area in very minimal. My qstns: 1. Does this model (head unit) have an in-built amp? should i definitely buy an amplifier? 2. Should i go in for a box or tube - type sub-woofers? which would be better both in terms of sound quality and saving space? 3. what options do i have for both amp and sub-woofers? 4. I'm in pune. what dealers can i get in touch with? 5. I'm a guy who listens to thumping bass - mainly hip hop and pop music. what models and specs should i go for? 6. the dealer next to my house was recommending to go for JBL and my collegue recommends sumokoo... i know my qstns show my knowledge is poor in this. however, would appreciate your views and advice. Regards, Venkatesh |

since you like BOOM get a tube sub. Most people here would recommend JBL over Sumokoo. I have heard Sumokoo a few times and have NOT been impressed. I sure hope their products have improved. BTW what is your budget?

| for completing an existing set-up, nothing beats soomoku in sheer value. (for hatches, in space too). at around 10k, you would get: option 1. a 100w RMS mono-block amplifier (with lpf, gain and phase control) a 10" subwoofer a factory sealed ported enclosure a wired remote on your dash (all of this in one compact box that can be moved around in your boot) option 2 same setup with two 8" woofers - if you are looking for 'loud' bass. (this takes more space) option 3 save money. get the 8" pre-amplified box, saves space and is more than enough to complete your 50w coustic 4 speaker set-up. retails for Rs. 7500, may be less for you ;-). you can use your speakers outs to drive the amp, with no need to change your head unit. jbl also has one such product which has probably been discontinued i guess. JBL Car & Marine Audio MRP in India is Rs. 12,500, but not available, probably around Rs. 8,000 in grey, this has a quad voice coil and a 4-channel amp. pioneer and alpine too have similar products which you can check at pioneer electronics europe website or alpine website in pre-amplified subs. these products simply complement 4 speaker factory set-ups and are not for loud or thumping bass. any of these should be as fine i guess. |

| Team-BHP Support ![]() | Venkatesh Most have been said. I will just list down what you need: If you want to add just a subwoofer & are fine with the output from speakers at slightly higher volume(read more than 50% Volume) You need: - Two channel amp - A sub If you want to sub as well as more sound read that as good clarity at higher volume the you need: - A four channel amp - A sub Normally A Sony is no no but on a tight budget the amp & sub are fine if not good as its cheaper than most other brands with B/W There are lots of people with varied ICE setups in Pune. We can have an ICE meet so that you can personally listen to various options for type & brand of Subs & amps ![]() p.s. I think I will get killed for suggesting a Sony ![]()

| Thanks for the replies guys. Just to clarify: I have already spent 14k on the HU and the 4x6" speakers on the doors last year. All i want now is 1 x 12" sub-woofer tube type as i want high bass and an amplifier. For these I have a budget of around 10k. I would serioulsy like to have a look at the systems that Pune BHPians have in their cars if we could have a meet this weekend... My number is 98810 69630. Regards, Venkatesh |

| Senior - BHPian | He doesn't have comps in the car at all. He has 4 x 6" co-axials running off the HU. IIRC he bought a JBL CS 60.4 for Rs. 5,500/- and a CS1204? sub in a sealed box for around 3k? Now he is running the front co-axials off two channels of the amp and the other two are bridged to drive the sub.
