Component System for 10K

I plan to change the rear JBL GTO 937 to some component system. In the fronts i am running a JBL GTO607c.

I have a budget of 10k. In this budget, aat the moment i am considering Infinity Reference series..REF6020CS, as they are fit in my budget.

Any other suggestions? Illusion audio, hertz, GZ any of these brands fit in the budget of 10k?

I would suggest you to take a demo of Illusion Luccent 6.1 Compos. It should be around 11k.

I too had this doubt in mind...why is that co-axials are recommended for the rear? Probably to bring the sound stage to the front?

Remember that hertz lancer in delhi build by autopsyche. It has components all around.

I have components in the front & rear slots of my car. And even though I don't know much about audio, I can tell you that it's not worth it unless you're driven around most of the time.

Plus, if you have speakers which are bright, it becomes painful like it became with my Velocity's.

I suggest saving the money & investing it in something better for your car.

You are comparing front comps with the rear comps. Agree you might ne see a lot of difference there, as both are comps.

I am comparing front comps vs rear co-axails. And let me tell u, when i shift my HU fader, i do notice a lot of difference between them.

Rears are as loud as the fronts..but front beings comps....the quality of sound is way way better.

Fronts are sharp, clear...and does get themselves heard at time of heavy bass.

Hmm there is a little price increase going to happen now the the luccent will be in the price range of 15k.

Components in the rear makes complete sense if the speaker location is in the door.

The rear tweeter has to be placed carefully though, to avoid it being in the direct line of hearing of the front passengers. If the component speakers are in the parcel tray, no advantage can be taken of the seperate tweeter that components provide. Hence people opt for a coaxial. But yet, in a lot of cases, peopl go for components in the rear just in order to maintain good tone throughout the car even if the rears cannot be positioned to produce any imaging or stage.

The Illusion Audio Lucent Series 6.1 has an international list price of $330 since 1998. Even with the current exchange rate, the rupee equivalent of the dollar price is higher than the Indian retail price. But at the input level, unfortunately, things havent been the same. The Lucent uses cast Aluminium basket, edge wound voice coils, a lot of steel parts, and neodymium magnet! All of these materials' prices have multiplied over the past few years. There is not a single product to the best of my knowledge in the world which uses a combination of these materials and yet retails at today's equivalent of $287.50. We have absorbed all the cost increases in the past, but doing it any more is not even remotely possible. Hence, sadly, the prices are increasing. Not just for the Lucent, even the Carbons.

As for VFM, I dont think LBM indicated any price increase on the Electras.
