Default Pioneer p1Y not responding

few months back my car was idle for about 1 month, later on when i switched on the head unit it powers up, the graphics display doesn't show anything, but i can tune & listen to F.M & when i press the eject button to insert a C.D, nothing happens. also i have observed earlier when ever we start or switch off car the panel goes in & out but thats not happening now. is there anything can be done from outsideto fix it/ repair or its time for new head unit which i am not too keen to change now.

It seems your cdplayer part of the HU has packed up!
Before you do anything, try a reset. There should be a reset switch located somewhere in the HU and most probably can be operated with the help of your ballpen.

Jitu same thing happened to shuvd's unit. He discarded it. When i upgraded my setup, the dealer got it 'repaired' and installed in my car. Lasted all of one day! Refused to open on day2.

Seems like a typical P1Y issue.

the strip that connects the HU and the Base might be the culprit here...get it checked out.

my p 1y has:

1. the ejecting problem( cd ejects partly)
2. does not read all mp3's (like a lottery)
3. auto slide soemtimes gets stuck and only slides after 2 or 3 times of pressing eject button.
4. souce/power button not as responsive (needs to pressed harder each time.

i got my ssytem in dec 2004 so not surprised the above is happening.

feel its better to mange with the above problems rather try to get it fixed as it may just go kaput.

i have a different pio HU that also often fails to completely eject the cd. i usually have to slide something into the slot to jiggle the cd around while continuosly jabbing the eject button, and then it slides out.

its not so good for the cds as they get scratched.

For all the guys with the eject problems on the pios :

I had a 7750 earlier. It had the exact same problem.
I took it to a local repair guy, he realigned the pulleys and it took around 5 mins. The hard part was taking the mechanism out of the assembly. It worked without any problems for over 8 months, that's when I sold my unit.
He charged me Rs100 for complete service of the HU
