Amplifier output query

hi, a stupid quick query please.....

if a mono amp is connected to 2 subs in parallel (so as to present a 2 ohm load), would the total RMS be distributed equally among the two drivers? how does it work?

I mean if an amp rated @ 1000 RMS @ 2 ohm with 2 subs, would boh subs get 500W each?

Theoretically, yes.

There might be minor difference in impedances, so it could be 520-480 (or vice versa) also.

I agree......but the difference cannot be felt by the human ear.

Plan is to get Britney back home with me.... but that seems a distant dream!

Looked like you got the answer from DerAlte, but here's some more detail.

I am assuming that the exact same 4 ohm subs are being connected in parallel to the output of the mono. In this case, both subs will get the exact same power. Even subs with some moderate quality control will not have different impedances or DCR because this is dictated by the voice coil winding. To ensure that you keep it even more precise, keep the length of the cables running to both subs exactly equal.
