I dont think that to fix a 6.5" one has to cut the metal part.

Check for install by gunbir on sk's car.

cutting the metal part and mounting the speaker helps the speaker hold better and sound better.things can be done without cutting a big hole also by using a mdf ring screwing the speaker from one side onto the ring and and the ring on the metal sheet..but putting the ring where there is space for the speaker magnet to pass.
mounting the speaker directly on the plastic sheet with the help of the ring will just add weight on the plastic and making more chances of its breaking rather than producing better sound

Hello Gurus,

I got the following suggestion on ICE from one of the dealers...

  • Pioneer Head Unit – 7000
  • Sony 2 channel Amplifier – 3250 ( Not sure if i should go for this or some other amp)
  • Illusion Audio EL 4.1 – 4990
  • Ground Zero 690 MK2 – 4950
  • Installation – 1000

Whats your take?

you can go for any other amp . I suggest you to stretch your amp budget to 8K atleast , you can get a nice KENWOOD 4-Ch amp or a JBL - 4 channel amp.

the more you'll search, the more you'll get confused.
that i why everyone here tell you to trust your ears and listen to them before buying them.
polk is a very good speaker brand(for me), may not be for others too.
they have some serious reputation in market.
IMO let go the mmc690(not worth its price tag) but get the db 691(very good if you are avoiding a sub and sound sweet) if you are going to buy coaxial for rear

i think you have Pmed me too
and i think my reply translates exactly to what lbm bhai stated!

Also pioneer 5090/5050 HU grey market should be 6500rs
Also look out for 2000-3000rs for wirng if you gonna get an amp
so the illusion spaekers front componets and Ground zero rears for a total of 10000 is good
if you budget is 21K and you cannot cross it go for the 2 channel SONY for 3000rs right now and drive the front componets only

if you can increse go for the GT4 Blaupunkt or KAC8401 for about 6000grey mkt

6500HU+10000speakers+3000wiring=19500 + amp

I am getting Polk Momo MMC690 for rear ( 6*9 ) and Polk MOMO MMC650 (6.25) for front for 15K..

Should I buy these ?? or is there a better combination you can suggest..

PS : I don't listen to loud music.. For me Sound quality is the most imp factor in my ICE...

Pls help guys..

My budget seems to be shooting up from initial 15 - 20 - 30 and now to 35 i guess...

i said this before many times, and will say one more time..theres nothing best..humans have a nature to improve things..so there will be never a best thing..will you purchase the best thing?even if it costs lakhs

u may put like whats the best in this budjet? or from this brand?or at this time?

u wrote u don't hear to loud music so ...then why front+rear

a good head unit(8-10k)+front(5-6k) can do wonders..if still you need to be loud then add rear..thats it..loud enough

Rear speakers are put in for a different reason, not loudness. Rear passengers cannot hear front speakers as well as front seat occupants because of the obstruction by the front seats. Also, putting ovals in the rear increases the overall perception of bass, not loudness.

I think @rahulv1's expression "I don't listen to loud music" assumes that system cost is directly proportional to loudness and SQ is cheaper than SPL!

GTO937 at 2800 is a grey market product -100%. That said it does not make it fake. It makes it a deal you cannot refuse, so I do understand.

Exclamation wht amp?

i have a swift. just got the following in

pioneer 5050 for 6.5k
kicker 600.2 for 6.2k

i want an enclosed sub and an amp.
i feel the pioneer wx301 is nice might go for it. around 7.5k. are pioneer speakers as good as their HUs?
and as far as amp goes. i have no ideas. any suggestions?

how are soundstream products? my friend was getting his stuff fitted too today. he also got the gto 937 for 2.8k. they are really really nice speakers. but ill tell you. i compared kicker and jbl front components.... the jbl has more bass but the kicker has better clarity. yes better than jbl.
