Default Pioneer with JBL Speakers.. Crackling sound

Hi all gurus,

I had installed Pioneer 4050UB with JBL GTO 937 6x9 at rear and JBL GTO 607c component speakers at the front for my Swift. The whole installation with the rear parcel tray(3/4 inch thickness) costed me 16K at trivandrum. The installation was not that pretty good since i had to go back to the shop (Car Shoppy, Trivandrum) several times to get the system properly installed.

IT's been 2 weeks and now i notice a new interesting artifact in my audio. When i am moving on rough roads or when i am breaking the right side tweeter in the front(the GTO 607c) makes a crackling sound. Like a telephone line gone wrong during the monsoon!!!. I need some expert advise from you gurus on the topic.. Sam , do u have time for this? i would really apreciate if you could tell me if it could be anything with the crossover network/ tweeter?

I am asking you this, because the installer is almost clueless on many of the issues , i want to be a bit more aware before i go and talk to this guy.

Any help is apreciated..
Thanks in advance

maybe its the wiring, it might be getting short somewhere. or say some naked wires must be touching the car body.

many a times speaker wires come under a screw and get damaged. or it could be just loose connections with crossover or HU.

JBL makes some great speakers, the gto936e i have in my accent were originally installed in my scorpio, in the boot door. this car runs in rajasthan under very rough conditions. and image the JBL's were abused by kicks and "jootis" of villagers sitting at the back or were hammered by cargo. the 607's are still installed and work great!

Are you using an amp?

Like SS has pointed out it can be loose connection or speaker wiring touching the metal body. Get it rectified ASAP or you HU amp might get damage.

Also is only one tweeter is making this sound or all the speakers.

Is it the shop opp. Sony showroom? Somebody by the name Vinod?

Like SS and LBM pointed out, it must be loose or naked wires somewhere. This guy usually joints wires by just twisting it and taping it.

I had installed my system from him. My mistake. I had to re-do all wiring and connections myself.

Hi baba,

In most probability the wires from the HU to the crossover and theron are not tightened properly. Ask him to remove the corssover unit, undo the speaker cables and reconnect them properly and all tight.

Also check if the front speaker terminals (on the same side side as the tweeter) is perhaps touching the car chassis.

Yes only one tweeter was making noise.

Yes.. that's the guy and he has shifted to a new shop in Pongumood. To be nice, the guys are quite unprofessional. And i hope the installation doesnt blow out midway.
And regarding the issue I went into the shop and as you guys pointed out it was some loose wiring. The guy took off the crossover unit and fixed the wiring.
And one more thing happened in between. The left side front speaker(GTO 607) went out. No audio was playing and when i took it to Carshoppy he was saying the JBL speaker connectors are not made to fit tightly and it could come off when doing some rough rides.
Anyway he got it all fixed now. But I lost almost a week for this stuff..
Phew.
Thanks again to you all and especially Sam, the JBL specialist.
