How to remove the HU from the Dash? - Team-BHP

Would like to know how to remove the HU from the dash. I have Pioneer HU. Appreciate pictures/documents.

This is a key for opening the Pioneer HU from its sleeve:

You mostly wont need the sleeve.

From your profile your car seems to be a Swift. I have no idea of how to do it with a swift, but generally it involve remove the console plastic, undoing the screws and pushing the HU from the back.

Why would you want to remove the HU anyways ?

Not the right method. Remove your head unit using the key that was shown in Ramie's post. If you don't have the key, any installer will have it. Ask the guy who installed your HU to give you a set. It usually comes with all "box packed" HU's.

Gents, I will advice you to leave it to the professionals. Removing HU is an art, LBM saar must admit. Pick up the ones seen in ramies post, goto a nearby friendly dealer, get a hands on training 5 times & DIY.

Ofcourse, don't you forget paying for his cuppa chai!!

Thanks, I have swift, I need to change the HU, so thought of changing it myself as the HU is from same make, so connector problems. Now I may go the shop.

Swift has provision to screw the Pio HU in place so, keys might not work. Keys will work if the original PIO jacket is installed.

I think you have to use the keys mentioned by ramie. Any installer would have it. I doubt if the HUs are normally screwed in place.

Swifts, most of the installers screw in the HU. The outter jacket is hard to fix on the stereo slot but the dash has easy access to install the HU otherwise.

Dont break your head, take it to a good installer and learn the process they follow for your car
