My zen has no door pockets. The MDF spacer is fiited onto the door frame and not on the fibre. The speaker grill ( more of a rim in this case is a stick and paste job.)

so u have made a through hole in the fibre and the spacer doesnt rest on the fibre. u have fixed it on the sheet metal of the door? what about the vibrations, jarring and rattling? have u done damping?

Amit, we already have thread on damping please restrict the queries to fitting Comps in Altos Doors.

You can ask the damping question in the damping thread.

Also please plan what you want to do, from whatever I have seen so far getting PS makes the job easier. I had once talked to Bafna about fitting comps at front & he said it could be done. I would suggest you visit him once & find out how he plans to do this & post here.

i had spoken to bafnas. they said its very difficult to put6" in altos front door. his installer also didnt seem confident.
and the damping thread is a general one. i think i am asking rohan how he has fitted spacers on the metal body. generally we put it on the fiber itself. and if he has clipped it on metal did he need damping

What is a ZEN doing here in the Alto thread?

Zen comes with speaker provision in the doors and the doorpad itself is a friendly design for fitting speakers. Not in the case with Alto.
Some good brains and hands are needed to do the job.

ya zen has a nice straight door trim. altos door trim is the worst cramped. i tried to mark 6" circle just below the window handle. it is too low and almost touches the foot fiber on the floor when u shut the door.

Exactly why i posted the pic. Look carefully the trim is not Flat! The trim had to be cut. But yes there is a provision for 4" speakers on the door. Mean to give Amit ideas. Dunno wether it can be replicated on the alto.
@Amit: Damping noy yet done. Just lined the doors and fibre with heatlon for the time being and set the crossover at 80hhz. No doubt damping will improve a lot. Am waiting for some moolah and time so that i can get down to it.
