India normally follows European standards for radio and telecom, not US.

| @DerAlte, think I was wrong there. The specs seem to indicate the frequency increment as per US standards i.e. The odd ones.

| Hi, I booked Palio SDX last Friday. I had the following choices. Indigo CS dicor Swift VDI and Palio SDX. I test drove all the cars and liked Palio the best. I went through all the threads on palio. My only concern was the resale value. Then in one particular post(I do not remember whose) there was a suggestion of investing the difference in the prices which will make up for the drop in resale value after 3/4 years. I was convinced by the brilliant logic and I decided come what may I will drive the car I like. Phase two is ICE. 1. Your Car: Palio Multijet 2. Your current setup (If any): Dapic(some Chinese make entire set up cost me less than 5000 bucks in my 800) 3. Your Budget: 25K 4. Self driven 5. Generally prefer soft music(eg Pehala nasha). Before getting to BHP my concept of ICE was the cheapest possible explosion at 10K. Thanks to you I have decided on the following set up and is poorer by 20k .Pio 5090 9000Rs Gt5 500c 3800Rs GTO 937 3800Rs GTO 504 7500Rs MDF Plank 850Rs Spacers 150Rs Amplifier cable 1050Rs RCA 650Rs Labor 750Rs Total is 27550 Can any one please comment on the Prices? I had gone to torque in Jeevan Bheema Nagar. They suggested I go for the Polk db 691 instead of 937 beacuase they have better low frequency response . I will have to pay an extra 2200 for these. Is it worth the upgrade? What would be the diffrence between Gt5 500c and GTO 507c I had gone to JBL lavelle road on Thursday they offered 10% discount on the list price. Appreciate all the help i can get (By the way hoe does the word ICE come about. is it an abbreviation) |

| ICE is an acronym for In Car Entertainment. Well, as far as the GT5 series components are concerned, I am running the 6.5 " components in my 800, installed a couple of months back. They are brilliant. I believe, from the discussions that have taken place on the forum, that the GTO series sounds a little brighter than the GT5 series components, but then I prefer it that way so I went for the GT5 comps. In any case, they can always be made to sound brighter as and when required, through appropriate tuning. Cheers. Last edited by arindambasu13 : 21st July 2008 at 18:34. Reason: typos |

| Yes you should go for the Polks. I am just coming back after getting the JBL GT5 963s in my friends i10. And trust me, they are not close to the polks. The bass is heavy but muffled. Not of my liking. I am not really happy with the SQ of JBLs. But our budget was less so we had the only good option of JBL. We settled for JVC KD645, JBL GT5 963, JBL GT 5** (dont remember). All for 11600 (including installation). I am waiting for my car to arrive so that I can fit my JVC and my polks to see how will those work. But I might have to wait for a little more than a month since I am short of funds :( ....kahin se koi lottery lag jaye !! |

Infractions: 0/1 (4) | Your current choice is good enough for the given budget. I would not recommend you to get Polks. What brand of RCA and wiring are you planning to get? Have you listened your favourite music in a similar setup sometime?

| I have not listened to my favorite music with this setup yet. I have listened to whatever music the dealer had. I have 15 days left for the delivery of the car I will probably go to the dealer with my music. RCA and wiring I am not aware. Can you please suggest some brands and probably the prices? I am novice to ICE all I know is courtesy team BHP |

| Senior - BHPian | polks usually sound best with metal/rock , but given the OP's preference of soft music, he's better off with something else. I think he should even investigate other options at this price point ![]()

Infractions: 0/1 (4) | Polks are bright speakers and would do okay in house, metal, hip hop etc.. But as an all rounder speaker, there're better brands available for better VFM. Jbl being just one good example.

I am not sure how do you define BRIGHT. Man the speakers were not even bale to deliver the balance (the JBL ones), they were too bassy and that too little trickling. I am not sure because they were being driven by the HU. With amplifier they might sound a lot better. But considering the fact that we only intend to use the HU amplifier, I guess POLKS are much better placed. Again, it might be only me. | |
