| Hi folks, I've finally decided on the setup I want in my Swift (of course constrained by budget). This is what it looks like, along with the corresponding budget: Headunit (USB, iPod capable, good quality sound with tuning options) --> 9K Rear Co-axial 6X9" speakers with good bass effect --> 5K Front Component speakers with strong mid-range --> 5K Monster cables (for 4 speakers?) --> 2K I request the ICE experts in this forum to please suggest options that are currently available in the market. The last ICE setup I did for my Baleno was 3 years back and I confess that I've not kept myself up-to-date! Also, the components come with tweeters right? Thanks in advance. ~Nitin Last edited by sonic : 6th June 2008 at 11:14. |

Some companies may actually offer a variety of midbasses, midranges, tweeters & crossovers from which you could select & make your own system. They may even offer inductors, capacitors & resistors to further modify the crossovers. Most experts on the forum (I am certainly no expert) recommend an amp to get the best out of a component system. And if you are going in for an amp, you could think of a sub instead of the 6" x 9". You could certainly think of getting your system together in a phased manner. All the best.

HU: Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood and even the base Alpine 9870 4 ch amps: Pioneer, JBL, Blaupunkt, Kenwood (about 7K) Speakers: JBL, Blaupunkt, Illusion, Hertz, Polk db Monster RCA will cost you about 3K for 2 pairs (4 channels). I suggest you include the following 1. up the component budget by 2K or so 2. add 3-4K for dampping the front doors (atleast the front doors) so you total budget would be about 34-35K.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll go with Pio HU, since the Alpine 6870 doesn't have a USB interface looks like. Any particular model of Pio HU in the 8-9K price range you can suggest will be really helpful! Same for components and co-ax speakers. The JBL GTO 607 and 637 seems to be choice for Swift. Any other options that I should look at before I decide? Amp for 7K! wow, hadn't factored that in! Aren't there any 4-ch amps available for <5K? Do I really need an amp for the co-ax or are they required only for the compos? What kind of damping of door panels is done. Just curious since I've never seen on being done and since it is 4K, I assume it's not as simple as stuffing in foam! Sorry.....have so many questions!! ~Nitin | |

| Senior - BHPian | the 9870 doesnt do USB, but can be hooked up to an ipod. Even I wanted to put an amp, but after i got my alpine, I've changed my mind! IMHO a good alpine HU will sound better (but maybe not louder) than a cheap HU + cheap 4 ch amp. And from the reviews trickling in, bull audio also seems to make some good vfm SQ components. Listen to the speaker brands navin mentioned as well. the speakers make the biggest difference.

I have used noisekill in my swift. Done only front doors and waiting for saving enough Vitamin-M to complete the job with rear/hatch doors. Its a good VFM product. Here is the link to my humble DIY thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-do...ontinue-2.html (DIY Started, surprising result - will continue). Page 2 will give you an idea of noisekill and installation.
