hello friends i finally decided to buy the jbl mono GTO-3501 for my dual voice coil sub when this thing came up ( whether the amplifier is stable for a 2 ohm load? or for that matter a 8 ohm load? ) , now i am as lost as george bush ever was, so please tell me what does "stable at 2 ohm load means and that whether this amplifier would be stable if i wired my DVC sub to present itself as a 2 ohmn load or for that matter a 8 ohm load? if not what else can i opt for

| The GTO3501 is rated "225W RMS x 1 Channels at 4 Ohms 360W RMS x 1 Channels at 2 Ohms" so it is stable at 2 ohms. At 8 ohms (series connection of the VCs of your sub) it is likely to give far less power - maybe 120W. Go for it, and pump 360W by connecting the VCs in parallel (2 ohms). Make sure you use good wires for power and sub connection.

i have got a pioneer dvc 307D4 , 400 WATT rms, was for about 3100, iv heard it in a car which was using a pioneer mono, sounded sufficient to me, now i have got to get a decent monoblock yet, this one is a class ab , i would have preferred a class d but i guess for about 8000 bucks one cannot expect everything, now as per the suggestion of experienced guys here im going to go ahead with the jbl monoblock, my last query that whther it is stable at 2 ohms or not have also been adressed by a fellow bhpian here, so i think that it is 2 ohm stable , iv got the green signal, now as soon as i come to delhi im gonna buy one of these. thanks all

something a little offtopic, i read somewhere that if the same amp and sub setup is run at 4 ohms, it sounds cleaner than if it would be run at 2 ohms, if thats true then why so? If thats true then would'nt 8 ohms be more cleaner than 4? if you gurus could let me know the technical reason behind this id be grateful, just trying to learn a little about audio stuff, thanks

if the same amp was asked to drive a speaker at 8 ohms it would be able to control it but not be able to deliver optimum power so the quantity of the bass would suffer. Simple enough?

yes navin ji, i have always been an audio buff, ever since i was a kid, when i found this site, i was really pleasantly surprised, usually when u talk to people about ice or anything related to audio, the usual reaction is either this person is crazy or he has got faaltu ka paisa if u know what i mean, even the shopkeepers who sell these items usually dont know anything and try to force u into buying substanderd goods that too at exhorbitant prices, anyway i wrote all this to let all of you guys know that i am learning quite a few things here and im thankful to everyone, who share their wisdom and be patient with newbies like me , thanks all one again and take care
