The 2 options you have are either using a FM modulator to connect an ipod or CD/MP3 changer or using a product like H/K Drive & Play. THis is true of the Honda Accord too.

| Navin, Visteon is Ford's automotive components unit, similar to GM/Delphi. Visaton is the specialist speaker manufacturer. The stock OE Visteon system in the Mondeo is a very competent unit, but not in the same class as Visaton drivers. @agpcool, check the manual of the audio unit - there might be an Aux-in provided in the HU terminated at the HU connector pins, but not wired to a socket. If so, it should not be too big a problem to get it wired to a headphone socket, to which you can connect you PMP / iPod with an EP-to-EP cable. If not, another way is to use an amplifier which has a direct Aux-in connection, like the Blaupunkt GTA480. I was gifted a China-made Car MP3 player a couple of months back, which has 1GB flash for song storage, MP3 player, an EP socket to connect external PMPs and an FM unit to beam the output to the HU. The whole thing goes into a cigarette lighter socket, and has an IR remote too (the main unit has only 4 buttons). Though the playback from the built-in MP3 player is tolerable (better than FM radio), the playback from iPod through the EP socket is horrendous.

| Hi, I used to own a Mondeo and we had swapped the O.E. system for a Kenwood DDX 7039 DVD system. This was a 2 Din system and flushed perfectly into the existing slot for the O.E. system. Also, my installer was able to connect the Kenwood system to the O.E. remote on the steering stalk, so that I could retain all the functions like track change, volume control. etc.... |

| Sorry for the delay. Here are the pics..quality of the pics is bad but u can get an idea of how it looks. When the panel slides down the car has to be in neutral otherwise it touches the gear knob (if in 1st,3rd or 5th). ![]() ![]() ![]()

| hi to state the obvious. in most manuals the pin config is given in a cryptic like my blaupunkt. so only an installer typically understands it. very dumb i must say. you have to look for 3 pins. one for left one is right and one ground. generally its the last three. if you can post us a pic of the manual showing the pin config sheet we could help better. |

| It is either the pin pair 8,9 (Phone Audio +, -; the shield of the cable should be connected to pin 5 but strangely it is marked NU here) or 11,12 (maybe not, since it is marked Remote; please check description in manual) in the remote connector #2. The ACP + and - is for the steering wheel remote, and AVC is the input to automatically control volume based on speed. This one does not have the CD changer interface (remote connector #1), where one can use pin pair 5, 11 (R) and 6, 12 (R) as AUX-IN.
