Navin,

Thanks!
Will check on that.
I have turned down the bass from the HU and the Equalizer to the lowest level though.

Dear Ajay,
Hi!

I quite like being called a Guru.
ok listen, lose the Boss-Equaliser. Honestly doesnt belong in this setup and is spoiling your sound. Trust me take it out and sell it off. My professional opinion.

so evne though there is no audible bass you still get vibrations. even when the car is not running (idling). then check all connections. i would even go so far as to check every RCA wire.

better still ....can you detail volume, quality, and freq of the noise the best you can.

does it increase with revs, does it sound like a gun shot, does it sound like a motor boat, etc...

Sam,

Any alternative to the Boss equalizer? and Is it a bad idea to have put the sub on the rear tray?

Appreciate your thoughts.

The jar appears to come from the rear. The bass is at level 1. The sub freq is down, the sub vol is at level 1 or 2. The jar is evident. any more + 'es on the setup it becomes very very evident.

if the tray is well damped you can get away with that. i'd offer you suggestions but then Sam says my suggestions scare most people (the last time I did I was offering advise on building speaker cabinets). Sam is more practical.

Why EQ? does not the sub amp have some sort of EQ. most sub amps have some sort of semi-parametric EQ and XO turnover choices.

Free Air subs are designed for this install. Their suspension, cone mass etc are optimised for this. Only most ceaks are 16ga steel. That is not much. You could get a 19mm MDF deck made to repalce it.

maybe your woofer is damaged. disconnect the woofer and listen. if a woofer's suspension is damaged even a bit of power can push it to it's physical limits. BTW is the sound a sort of grating sound or like a whip crack?

a-ha my guess is the voice coil of the woofer has gotten mis-aligned or you got dust between the voice coil and magnet. Either way I fear you'd have to get the woofer repaired son. The good guys I knew in this area are dead or retired. Sam can you help?

disconnect the woofer and enjoy atleast some music till the woofer gets repaired. sorry about this. lets hope it is not a multiple magnet sub like some. Focal Audiom, Audio Concepts etc... are a pain to fix. C ya. Will check in tom.
