Blaupunkt PA 275 is a 2 channel Class T amp which has been discontinued by Blaupunkt. The amp is retailing around 3.5k and is a decent amp for the price. It in no way can be compared to Sony SD series mono block. Sony is a class apart.

Let me see, depending on the mood & patience of the Installer, I may try out Pio 7100 amp as well..
I'd use combo 5 and use a Pio 6100 amp instead.

Aseem

Class D mono amplifiers for subwoofers are not necessarily better than the Class AB's. Class AB is definitely better than Class D. You can easily percieve the difference in the bass quality reproduced by two Classes of the amplification.

The thing is Class D is more efficient and hence generates less heat. There fore the amp is less bulky because less heat sinking and smaller (efficient) power supplies.

Sony SD series are nice amps....good to look at (after a long time from sony).

I can say about Pioneer 7100 its a very nice amp offers lot of control over the subwoofer and good value for money.

Yet to come across Sony SD series.

As of now its as following :

1. Alpine
2. Pioneer
3. Sony

The real fight for the second place is in between sony and pioneer.

Post Wattage Consideration

Hi Navin,

Can you give some theroritical inputs on how an Amp wattage required to run F+R speakers & Subwoofers is calculated (is it simple arithmatic sum or else) and how it varies with bridged, parallel and series configuration of various speakers.

Shrey, why me?

1. i am not sure of your question so will give a general answer.
2. most speakers have thermal (watts) and physical (Xmax) limits. in most cases they reach their physical limits first (esp in IB installs). when woofers reach their physical limits you can hear them complain as they make a lot of odd noises. Tweeters however just go pooff!
3. wattage delivery from an amp is dependant on amplifier design so no single answer will be close to correct.

In short dont worry too much about how many watts your amp is and what you speaker can handle (in watts). If you are using a decent amp (there are many recommended here) and decent speakers (ditto). you should be ok.

because, u r considered and i know by now, reading all the posts in this thread for last fifteen days before joining, that you have a vast experience splly theoritical in this field.

what i wanted to ask was, say i choose certain models of speakers( components for Front & Rear or 2-way coaxial for rear and sub-woofer) then do ihave to select my Amp, based on specs(rms watts)? or i can simply ( as you said) buy good set of components and subs and an Amp, and lo behold ! a nice sounding Audio system is there

Lastly, since i m new to this place(team-bhp), Please let me know
if a newbie is supposed to deliver a formal introduction to all the veterans, in fact i'd love to.

Hi Shrey,

Welcome. If your interest is mainly audio, we'll accept a very short introduction here
However there is an "Introduce yourself" thread in TBHP, take a look at that if you like.

Hi Sam,

Yup its ONLY Audio, and i hate all that Mcpherson strut, clutch, Turbocharger, alternater, alignment stuff, like you said in one of the post.

well i 'm an Electrical Engineer looking after Technical aspects of large rating Turbogenerators i.e 210 / 250 / 500 MW. I love music and Audio gadgets. and when i have time , you'll find me playing my Yamaha synth.

The reason why i'm here:
Recently i bought a Swift as well, and since then i'm planning to install an audio system.
I've learnt a lot from this thread, and i must thank You, Navin, and other members in this thread.

I hope i was short enough, anything specific if you guys wanna know?

I'd keep on troubling you people, for my queries, so be prepared!
