Hiya clip,

Yes The 9613i also had a silk dome, no worries there. Infinity do not use titanium domes, JBL does.

The 9613i, like any other 6X9 has it's own, predesigned in-line, 3 way crossover. Why would you want to modify it? The crossover transitions have been designed by Infinity engineers.

it all depends what you define as midrange. the 9613 has 3 drivers. 1 woofer and 2 hf drivers. I assume (since there is no inductor) both operate at higher freq. only one may be crossed over at say 1.5k and the other at 5k (1st order HP).

Clip, why do they call a 200w cont. amp an 800w amp. why do they say a HU has an output of 54w x4? Why do most mass market product manufacturers lie? Because they can. And it helps them make money. Thats why. I haven't tested your HU so I can't give you the exact picture. Why don't you test it and post the results here. It may only output 2-3v clean, and the sub is often even lower.

IMO this was the point where the amp started to clip. i backed of a little and left it there. correct me if im wrong.

i trust what you say gunbir. what in your opinion would be a good amp to drive the comps?
An Audison. But knowing you're on a budget, the best budget amp nowadays is the Kenwood KAC-8401. We've compared it to many others in this segment (under 10K) and this is the current king. At last count, this was going for Rs 8.5K a pop.

Clip, my suggestion is... Get an ESK163 for your front stage (after your amp upgrade), and shift your 2way comps to the rear. Alternatively, wait for SK456 to sell his 3way and get it for half price

8.5K for the 8401 without B&W or 10K for the 60.4 wiht B&W I dont know but I'd take the later or even strech for the 60th Anniversary 4060. I would buy this 4060 but I have no use for a 4 ch. amp right now. Mom's got the 755.6, Wife's using a Velocity 504 and I have the Alpine 340.

Once in a while I fall in love with some piece of hardware like the Blau THA555 or Infinity 5350a and not having use for it go mad (as I cant buy it). I tell you I am infected.

hi,

gunbir, is this the same amp which you reccomended earlier when i came for the upgrade? all this while, ive been thinking of bying an audison srx2s. im confused. was thinking of upgrading my sub amp to srx2s, but now i think i should buy an amp for the comps as i feel my 944 is good enough for bass duty(im satisfied with the bass i get). i can always add another sub later when i have the big red gandhis. so please suggest an audison amp which you think is the best for my comps. also suggest the cheapest from audison for the comps.

thanks

navinji,

im going to remove my cars speaker tray(its a sedan) and ill post the cap values etc.

cheers
