audio system: CD Player Phonosophie (based on 63KI with mods) with more mods. Alps pot and relay switching based home made pre amp, MOSfet amp made at home, speakers per channel woofers 2 x 12" made by Mike Dzurko of Audio Concepts, 2 x 8546 ScanSpeak, 1 x 9900 Scan Speak. but all this is going for upheaveal. prior to this I had 18" JBL 2245, 2 x Focal 8" 8N515 and a Morel MDT33 per channel powered by a Carver and a pair of Harmon Kardon 870 (the preamp was the 825).

![]() navinji, what were you saying in your earlier post? "raja kane ho toh clip ka kya hoga" ? didnt get you sorry. navinji should i try replacing the caps on my infinity 6x9s to the ones i have? the one which i posted pis of? also i would like to remove the tweets and place it separately. is it possible? ill fix a dust cap or a phase plug on the midbass' cone. and BTW whats a phase plug for? are neo magnet available off the shelf? also navinji remember i built a torroidal transvestite..oh sorry transformer lol, i have forgotter the no. of turns for the primary. the secondry has 32 turns and give out 22v. i there any way i can work out the ratio? or you do it for me? and can the amperage be calculated from the wire guage etc? like i for eg. i used a 19gauge primary and say a 15 gauge secondry, what would be the amperage? the dmm i have only tests dc amp. any solution? cheers clip | |

I dont believe I have much knowledge when it comes to Audio hence I refer to myself as "Kane" so I meant that if I am Kane how can I "teach" someone else. Poly caps should sound better than Electrolytic. decoupling the tweeters from the woofer is not easy. I have done it and some coax designs allow this easier than others. I have not studied the 937 (not even heard a pair) enough to see if one can do it safely. You will have to fabricate a phase cap. the metal ones would mean that you need access to a machining shop. When I was in the US, I bought my GF (of the time) Leggs stockings so that I could use the plastic egg shaped can they came in to make phase caps. NdFeB magnets are only available in bulk. Orders of 100s or 1000s. What do you intend to do with them? If you change the magnet on the woofer you will change it's characteristics. Turns and wattages are simple. If you want 22V from 220V you turn ratio should be 1:10. wattages are simpler. P = VI. So your secondary side (22V) will have to have wire that can carry 10 times the current of the primary. there are charts that determine how much currect each gauge of wire can carry.

I was planning on getting a basic system i.e. HU + 4speakers as my uncle is really no audiophile and I am the one forcing him for a system. If it already has 4 speakers then I only need to get the HU.

All one needs is a lathe. a phase plug is cone shaped and it can either be hollow like mine or solid. rare earth magnets (NDFeB or SmCo) contain "rare" earths like Neodynium or Samarium.
