Thanks for the inputs. By the way, the SQ changed dramatically after I changed the amp from Sony to JBL. I'm no audiophile but even I could tell there was an immense difference: The sound is tighter, less boomy, clearer. The clean-ness encourages me to go louder. To be honest, I didn't expect any change. However from the above experience and from what I read in the forum, Sony amps have exceptional noise tolerance. Let's give that one credit to Sony.

| One of the amps that I am considering for my sub puts out 350W at 4 Ohm & 900W at 1 Ohm. Should I wire my DVC sub for 4 Ohm or 1 Ohm? Why? |

| Hi, My friend got a pio p4000dvd from the Us and installed it in his swift. Sadly the video does not work as he says that some cable has to be connected to the hand brake for it to work. A couple of installers over here have no clue how that has to be done. Any help on this will be highly appreciated. |

- better control over subwoofer - more headroom - lesser distortion - better efficiency at 4ohms (if its a class D amp) - lesser strain on your electricals

| BHPian | Wire it first at 4 ohms, listen.. then wire it at 1 ohm and listen.. It will play louder at 1 ohm.. Adjust the gains accordingly and play it at the same reference level, then decide which config appeals to your ears! Its that simple!! | v Last edited by shrivz : 23rd August 2008 at 15:11. |

| Hello to all the gurus, I am a newbie member on the team . My second day here actually. Have been through most of the threads in this section but couldnt locate anything on the 6988's. I had been using the 6988 three way coaxial speakers from pioneer along with a HU and coaxial speakers and the bigger tweeters all from Pioneer incidentally with an amp from pioneer too driving the rear 6988's in cars like the Esteem and Sierra. Of late all the cars of mine have come with factory fitted systems so I really havent been aware of the changes that have been taking place. I had recently begun looking for an audio setup for a SwiftD(thats looking more like a mirage now, thanks to all the delays) , and found that the Pioneer 6988 three way coaxials have been discontinued and are no longer available. I was instead suggested to look at the GTO 937 and also the power series P963 both from JBL. Now I'm not much of an expert on all things audio, in fact i dont think id qualify as a beginer in the field even. All i know is that the 6988,s in that setup sounded really crisp with sufficent bass and clarity with no distortions whatsover. Id just like to ask the gurus to suggest a a set of speakers that sound similar to my setup I had earlier in terms of clarity.Im hoping there is somebody in here who has used the Pioneer 6988 three way coaxials so they know what im talking about. Thanking you for the replies in advance nicedude |
