Default advice on upgrading my sony system for my zen??

well guys if any of u have read my post about being duped by rns motors u would have surely know as to who according to the company was blamed for the damage on my car,yes it was car decor form where i got my stereo fixed..
well here is the config on my zen..
1. sony xplod cdx-f5510X (52X4w) mp3 player- Rs 6200..
2. sony xplod XS-GT6937X,350W(3-way) speakers- Rs 2680..
3. sony xplod tweeters- Rs 1750..
4. clamps for the tweeters- Rs 60..
5. tray/plank - Rs 800..
6. connectors and antenna- Rs 250..
well just wanted to know if the prices i paid are reasonable or not..
more over i wanted our experts opinion on the performance of this setup(i mean the pros and cons)..
well everyone out here must be wondering as to why i didnt go in for front speakers, well the answer to that is i myself dont know..well i pretty much liked the effect of the rear speakers and wasnt sure if there were any front speakers which would match the effect of the rears,so decided to stay with the rears only thinking that adding the front speakers wud just spoil the balance of the entire setup..
so secondly what i wanted to know is what are the best possible upgrades for my system..can u guys suggest me good front speakers,a subwoofer and the required amp..which make??how to know their genuinity(i mean pioneer, thats the only reason i choose sony over pioneer) ??and lastly the approx costs and also any particular methods to install the same so as to achieve the optimum performance..
ps:budget is around 15k,can stretch a bit more if its really worth..say max budget of 20k..
so all the experts out there keep ur suggestions rolling...

hey...

It seems all quite ok, the prices. The system is fine, decent value for money system. You definitely need front speakers man, just tweeters upfront is no good, not balanced. You need some midrange in the front of the car, so get yourself some Sony Xplod fronts. This will make sure you have an even tonality in the car.

That will take up about 1.5 k, buy an amplifier and a subwoofer. Buy a subwoofer, wither a sony Xplod, just because everything else is sony, or you could spend a little more and buy a JBL woofer, it's better.
A decent 4 channel amplifier, like the Sony 504 and your all done.
Buy Sony fronts, JBL 12" sub and the Sony 504 subwoofer.
Connect the rear speakers and the front in parallel to the amplifier front channel, and the sub to the rear channel bridged and let the tweeters run off the amplifier in the head unit.
Buss, fullly set.

i did not see any speakers for the front. i would suggest you get the largest mids the front door can hold. I think 5" would be it.

beyond that i would add to sam's thought...
if you can afford this...
a 504 for the 4 speakers and a 502 bridged for the sub (if you are adding the sub)

although many amps are comfortable running into 2 ohms (4 ohms bridged) i prefer not to stress them so. the less they are stressed the better they can do their tasks. I am old school. sam is new school.

ofcourse it all depends on your budget. besides i wont know the JBL line like Sam does.

in 1995 i installed a pair of Vifa 5" woofers in a zen door so i figured 5" would fit.

well navin budget is not the issue..but need comps for the front which give a good balance compared to the rest of the setup..so if ur sure 5" goes in a zen thats pretty cool..so the next question, whick make comps..
yup as u suggested was plannning to connect the fronts and the rears on a 504 and not decided but whats ur thought on cs1200t,300mm sealed sub tube from jbl powering thru a 502..dont need that loud a boom, boom after all its a hatch..ur views pls on this..

Budget is not an issue heh. Sam I think you got your first customer for a Becker HU. LOL

seriously if you can afford it replace the sony 504 with the JBL 50.4.

replace the JBL comps in the front with Infinity and get the Infinity 6x9 with EMIT for the rear. Sam will provide models and prices when he recovers from Delhi's heat.

Q&D solution:
12" Box or Tube sub - hear both and decide what you want. JBL1200 and it's peers from Blau, Alpine, etc...) powered by a bridged 502 (budget) or JBL 300.1 (bigger budget)

4 speakers: 4" or 5" components in the front and 6" or 6x9" fullrange in the rear powered by the Sony 504 or JBL 50.4 or 75.4 or Alpine 340 (based on budget)

now you choose the components based on your budget the higher the better.

I have just skimmed through this thread. Please view post #937 from the following thread:

http://team-bhp.com/forum/showthread...232#post114232

If I was you this is what I would do in your budget:

1) Decent components JBL/Boston for 5k (JBL 505E or Boston FS50)
2) No Rear speakers (Please read thread Car audio advise from Navin and Sam post #937)
3) Sony HU 5510 for 6k
4) JBL Tube for 5k CS 1200 T
5) Sony 504 Z for powering front speakers and the tube for 4k

Total budget: 20k

However consult with Sam if he agrees with this, as my experience in MUSIC is very very LITTLE!

hey aseem but i already have a sony 5510 running on my current setup,so that about 6k i could use on better speakers or amps..by the way what do u think i should do with my 350W sony rear speakers thats already running on my car,get rid of them is it or use it as fillers..dont want to upset the balance of the whole system by doing something wrong..

Use the rear speakers only for fillers. Based on the budget you can do the following setups:

Cheap budget:

1) Front components Boston 5k (FS 50 more neutral sounding than the JBL)
2) Sony 504 Z for 4k (60 Watt RMS to drive the front speakers and 120 Watt to drive the sub)
3) JBL Bass Tube CS 1200 T for 5k (150W RMS)

Total budget: 14k

Mid budget
1) JBL or Boston components in the front (JBL 505E or Boston FS 50) for 5k
2) CS 50.4 amp (Same specs are Sony but better quality) for 7-9k
3) JBL CS 1200 T tube for 5k
4) Power only the front components and the sub

Total budget: 17-20k

High Budget
1) Infnity, Polk, MB Quart, Rockford Fosgate, Soundstream, Alpine components (8-10k)
2) JBL GTO 75.4 amplifier for 13.5 k
3) JBL 1200 B subwoofer with custom enclosure (250 W RMS) for 6k-8k (depending on with or without bill)
4) Power only the front with the amp, and use the REAR only as fillers

Total budget: 30-35k

Prices in gray are always less. Sam and Navin always recommend to buy products with bill and warranty. Make your pick.

The original factory fitment on the zen is a 4". However if you lose the original pod, you can fit a 5.25" in the zen. That is why I suggested the GTO426e

Cheers

If you lose the pods, you can put in multi axials GTO526e or components 506Ce.

With a wooden trim ring you can actually bung in a 6", multiaxial will be GTO636e or component will be 606Ce
