Car Audio Setup for SANTRO XING

This is what i am going for 4 my Santro

1. HU CDX7500 ( i already have it)
2. Pioneer GM-X324 AMp ( I already have it)
3. JBL 426e (Rs.2300 with B&W) for FRONT
4. JBL 606 (Rs.6700 with B&W) for REAR
5. Blaupunkt GTb 300 12inch sub Box (Rs.6000 with B&W)
6. Sony 502z ( Rs.3750 with B&W)

The Sony 502 will power the Sub
The Pioneer will power the 4 other speakers

The guy said he can put the 606ce or 506ce at the rear wher the rear pod is ( so nice of him)

Is the above config ok ? or should i go for 636/936 at rear

and should I go for JBL sub instead of Blaupunkt

While we wait for experts to comment on the setup. Just wanted to suggest that 502 wont be able to drive your woofer to its potential. The 502 gives 120 W RMS in bridged mode, and the your woofer has 250 W RMS. So I suggest considering JBL CS 1200 T instead of the woofer box, as that is less power hungry (150W RMS) and 502 will be able to drive it better.

yup the sony 502z amp wont be able to drive the box type subs to their fullest potential..it will run the sub but no to the fullest capability that the sub can reach..so u either got to go for a better amp or buy a JBL CS1200T tube type sub..this tube type will produce awesome effect with the 502z..so take a pick..

Mr. Das, the Maximum output figures dont mean a thing. You should check out the RMS figures of 502 which is not the same as max power. Below is the Rated output of this amp:

Hi guys, so abt the sub... what r my other option other than the jbl as its a bit tough to get the 1200 here.

if you cant get JBL get 2 smaller subs (8" Blaupunkt bass tubes) and use the 502 to drive that. The JBL bass tube seems easier to drive than the Blau 12" box. I tied out the Balu 12" box in october and while the bass was deep it needs some serious power.

can someone give me the mrp of jbl tube (CS1200T ) and box ( 10inch)

is it really a good idea to try and mix so many separate brands considering that JBL do make good subs with in built drivers,,also isnt the interior of the santro too small an area for so much rms power,,wont it cause distortion

the cs 1200t costs 5.5k in bangalore..not so sure about the box sub.should be around 6.5-7k..

Hi jkdas

While Navin is right about bass tubes (ported boxes) being easier to drive, I suggest you go for a sealed box setup. Try this... try speaking through cupped hands... it will be louder with the same effort. This is how a bass tube works. It will play louder with the same power... but that is not due to driver efficiency but rather due to porting. My point is... when you speak through cupped hands you will notice your voice tends to become directional and muddy... same goes for bass tubes. direction of the port in your car will largely dictate percieved output in certain parts of the car. and the bass will not be clear, tight or punchy. It will have a boomy (cupped hand?) effect.

I suggest go with a sealed box design (unless you prefer slow, boomy bass) and look for a more senstive subwoofer. see your specs, the gtb300 is rated at 91db senstivity. the way human hearing works, sound is percived doubled every 3db.

So, a 94db rated sub will sound nearly twice as loud and a 97db thrice as loud. So, look for a more sensitive sub. I suggest our Hertz ES300D. Its a 12" sub with fantastic SQ and SPL. Very nice build quality and... its 97db.

Price wise, at Rs. 8170 it is more expensive than the other subs you are considering but there is a bigger difference in sound quality and output. You can also consider the ES250D which is cheaper at Rs. 6290 and 96db. Bear in mind these prices are for sub drivers only and you would need a box with these. We can supply a custom box for the Xing as well...
