This is a set of 4 stamps issued in West Berlin. So not only did they mention Bundes Republic Deitschland, but added Berlin.
This is the Avus race track where Auto Union, Mercedes, Alfa's raced in 1937. After the war there were modifications to the track and racing activity was reduced. It had a dangerous banking with cars flying off at the top. I have been there as a kid, maybe 8 years old at that time, do not remember much.
This set came as a block of 4 different stamps.

This is another stamp from Berlin. The bus is of a type having seating on the roof. Like our BEST Mumbai Darshan busses.

It is unlikely that this bus would ever cross "The Marthanda Varma Bridge Alwaye" as shown on a stamp issued Travancore Anchel. I put up this stamp for "our Tranvancore". He may have more and better condition stamps of his state. What was their currency, 3/4 CH ?

@ Hi Harit Ji, Were there ever any Indian stamps with cars? I searched for same on Google/Bing but with no positive results.
OT: It just started as fun about three months back when I noted a rusted postbox on the roadside & got a pic with it. Then wherever I could find a postbox, I would ask passerby's to take my pic with the red box, most of the time using my phone camera. Say in another 10 years my pics will become collector item.

Raab Rakha.

No, and I only know of that stamp with the mail van in blue posted by me before.
And what would they show, Amby, Premier and Herald? If the ministry of industries did not know better other than punish Indians with these crappy cars (remember, they were almost outdated when introduced and were hardly upgraded), the postal department had the sense not to put them on stamps. Even if a Birla or Walchand were honoured with a stamp, their automobiles did not count as an achievement and so not depicted.

Here is a British stamp with a mail van.

OT: 3/4 CH is for 3/4 Chakram, which was one of the denominations of the old currency of Travancore state.

The denominations were Kashu < Chankram < Travancore Rupee < Panam

I think the conversion rate was like:

16 kashus = 1 chakram
28 chakrams = 1 Travancore rupee
7 chakrams = 1 panam

Please do correct me if I am wrong.

Just came across this thread and I must say its very interesting, at one point in time I used to be an avid collector of stamps too! Unfortunately all my albums (atleast 5) of them are in my house in Poona. The dry weather there keeps the mint stamps intact ;-) Will carry my laptop and scanner there the next round and update this lovely thread.

Thanks, waiting for your stamps to be scanned.
This DDR stamp is from the former East Germany, Deutsche Demokratische Republic and preaches traffic discipline.

Here is an Austrian stamp on the automobile built by Marcus, an Austrian also a pioneer in the building of Automobiles.

One can see that when stamp collecting declined, stamp collecting was actually advertised by the US Postal department in the form of a stamp
Talk of a free ride, the capitalist and opportunist way!

A real collectors item.
Wuerth on their recent 60th Anniversary managed to get a commemorative stamp issued by the Austrian post. Here is the stamp, the accompanying letter and the envelope. These are relatively rare, and the motive is automobile related, many of us use their products.
This was a novel idea in 2005, today you can get postage stamps issued with your photo in some countries by paying a fee.

That's a neat item, a nice touch from the company's side. It was sent to loyal customers?

I suppose it went to management, staff, select customers.
This I believe is Jamshedji Tata, founder of the Tata empire which today includes Tata Motors. Since there are so few Indian stamps on automobiles on the whole, I thought of the founder of the Tata group. Maybe one day we will have a stamp on the Nano. Other than that, we did not build worthy indigenous automobiles in India to merit a stamp in their honour.
This is a mint stamp, unused.

Here are some images I found online many years back, and stored for kicks. Unfortunately I do not recall any details, and cannot confirm if they are genuine - but thought I'd share.

Nice stamps, Karl.
Here is an Indian First Day Cover issued on 30/03/2010 featuring the Special Protection Group. This must be relating to protection for India's top leaders. We see a BMW, like on of those ordered by the previous NDA government for the VIP's.
This is only the second Indian stamp I have come across showing some sort of automobile. Are there any more Indian stamps with automotive themes out there?

Cheers harit
