Question Re: ARTICLE: Find your car's date of manufacture (VIN)

Hi Wildon,

Can you decode the following VIN of Grande Punto for me please?

MCA118C5E07043103

I referred to the eearlier posts where Punto VIN's have 3 alphabets ending but the dealer SA said that the last 3 characters are no longer provided by Fiat. Can you confirm what month is the manufacture?

Hi Wildon,

Could you please check this VIN No for a Maruti Dzire:

MA3EJKD1S00332239

I asked them for the last 2 digits which are used to identify the year and month of manufacture and they said that the VIN No for Maruti's are just 17 digits.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused and many thanks in advance .

VIN will be of 17 characters only. Ask for the Chassis number then you will get the additional 2 characters. see the picture below the find out the location of the same in the car.

On my vehicle invoice i have the Chasis No. / Vehicle ID = MA3EJKD1S00332239 (The showroom guys said that is the VIN no itself, hence i quoted that here)

The image that you have shared helps a lot , when i will go in for a PDI Check, i will try and get the remaining two letters to piece in the missing parts of the puzzle. Will share those once i have the same .

Thanks for all your help Wildon.
