There is room for a 5.25" but prepare to cut. It wont be stock. One reason i built my own 4.5" comps using a vifa tweeter.

Sam... you are correct. 5.25" is the stock size at the octy's rear. Navinji, I think you are mistaken on this one.

The woofers I used were 12cm and they fit in stock locations. 12cm = 4.7". Maybe 5.25" speakers are really 12cm or thereabouts. I dont doubt JB or Sam or Gun. I just know what i used.

Woukd you know the actual OD (chassis dia) of say Alpine, JBL, etc... 5.25" woofers?

woofers in the OE rear space? doesn't that cause the rear shelf to rattle? Need to hear your RS navin. Lemme know next time you're this side of town.

Not really. I did not have any probelm with that. Sam heard it at the NCPA meet. It does depend on the install and also remember my woofers dont see anything below 80Hz - the sub takes care of that.

Remember my system is not a SPL system. The object was to use as little space as possible.

possible upgrades:
1. Hertz EX200 8" woofers in custom 12 liter cabinets (gotta hear these first - when JB and co come to Mumbai).
2. upgrade fronts to Infinity or better (present are Alpine)
3. upgrade rear to matching speakers
4. replace Alpine 340 and home made sub amp with Alpine 450 (discontinued)

Q: what to do with existing speakers and where to find a 450?

Octavia rear is 5.25" direct fit...and 6.5" in the front.
