Default WagonR Audio

I have a wagonR which currently has this audio setup

HU : pioneer KEH-P7035 (only cassette)
Amp: Silicon 4 channel 600W
Woofer:Premier 800 watt DVC series
Rear speakers:Pioneer 420 watt 6x9 coaxials
Front speakers:Pioneer 100 watt
CD changer: Pioneer p1280(12 cd)
Tweeters:Pioneer 250Watt (may be) mounted on the B pillar

The rear speakers and the woofer share 1 common box and i am pretty happy with the sound qaulity and loudness if i sit in the rear. What can be done to the sound in the front in a very very tight budget of say 3K MAXIMUM (wish it could be lower)

THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!!!!!!!!!

One more question: What is the difference in watt and rms

One of my friends told me 10Watt = 1 rms. Is he right ???

I assume your amp is powering the rear 6x9 and the woofer.

if so, let the 6x9 be powered via the HU and the front powered from the amp instead of powering teh rears. so its front + sub from amp.

and can teh wagonr take a 5incher at frnt? If you drive I recommend a compo at the frnt or teh setup above.

Unit of Power (P) is Watts. We usually go by RMS of an amp or speaker whic is Root Mean Square which is also given in Watts. Your friend maybe talking abt PMPO which is just used for marketing purposes.

Watt is measurement of power. RMA wattage is a nominal method used to crate a level playig field for all electrical items. It assume that the power is a sine wave and the average power is ROOT MEAN SQUARE.

PMPO stands for Peak Music Peak Power. What that means in numerical terms is anyone's guess. I have seen gadgets rated at 2000W PMPO producing less than 20W rms per channel at less than 0.1% distortion. I am not sure which marketing department thought up this terminology but I would not even consdier it. In fact I would not buy any product if the company even advertised PMPO power.

as far as your front speakers go...I'd suggest looking at blaupunkt GTX or JBL's CS series of speakers.

Nope. The wagon R has a dashboard mount (like an alto) which accomodates 4" only.

Get a GTO426(2.5k) and power it via amp. Let the rear ovals be powered via HU and the sub too powered via amp.

It has 3 RCA preouts: selectable (front+rear+subwoofer/ front+rear+non-fading)

Power the front speakers and the sub from amp. I suggest that you replace the present front speakers with a GTO426 as the GTO426 will sing much better when powered via the amp.

If you cant afford the GTO426 the CS series from JBL are also quite good. A friend of mine uses them in his Santro.

Question Need your help to buy Car Audio System for ny new WagonR

Hi ICE Experts,

I have purchased WagonR Lxi last week without any extra accessories and want to buy a decent Audio System. I am crazy music lover and like more bass and thump.

I am planning to go for JBL Speakers (after much hunt, study and RnD in TBHP's forum) and Pioneer / Sony Headset.
Q1. What is your suggestion or feedback for this combination ?
Q2. Is there any need for amplifier right now ?
Q3. Can I add the Amplifier and the SubWoofer later ?

Right now due to financial setback I can afford to spend around 10-12K for the entire system and dont mind to buy grey market products. But I have plans to upgrade it later on.

Please help me buying a good car music system and provide me some ideas about the costings. I am Bangalore based and have initially enquired prices in JC Road for the following accessories:
HU - Sony CDX-GT350S / Pioneer (dont know the model) - Rs 6800/- (Both having same features and Front Aux for iPOD Support)
Speakers: Rear – (400Watts) Rs.3400/- for Pioneer and Rs.3600/- for Sony.
Front – (240Watts) Rs.900/- for Pioneer and Rs.1200/- for Sony.
Speaker Holding Pad – Needed to hold the rear speakers in case of WagonR (Rs350/-).
Radio Antenna – Rs 150/-

Also please let me know about a good place where I can get all this fixed to my car without damaging the MPFI Circuitry.

Looking forward for your help! Thanks in Advance !!
SOURAV

I dont know what the MPFI has to dow with audio.

12K....

Get a HU for about 6-7K. Sony or Blaupunkt come with B&W. Pioneer with B&W is very costly.

JBL CS series are a good buy at this price range.

Navinji, i feel what sourav is trying to say is that he wants to install an audio system in his car without cutting or splicing any of the wires and electricals. This is required especially for an mpfi car since the dealers on the date of buying the car itself warns the customers that cutting or splicing of any of the electrical wiring in the car shall void the warranty of the car.

BTW,, Sourav i feel that these days most installers use car specific wiring harness which does not involve any cutting of wires. Just tell the installer to use the harness and not cut any wires. Hope it helps and make sure you get the install done at a reputed accessories shop.

Cheers

Navinji, Prince85 explained my feeling well ... Thanks Prince85 !! I was worried about hurting the MPFI Wirings. I shall now use car specific wiring harness (BOSS Brand - right ??)

Now I have this in my mind (may go for Amps and Subs later):
HU - Pioneer 6800 - (Price???)
Front - JBL 426e (Price???)
Rear - JBL 606 (Price???)
Wiring + MDF Board to fix Rear Speakers + Radio Antenna - Rs 2000

Any idea what would be the cost of the above items w/ and w/o B&W respectively in Bangalore ??
