Guys guys guys,

It is not the size of the sub but it's Mms and Sensitivity (and install) that determines the power required. If any of you remember we used to drive larger large speaker (12"+) using 20-30W tube amps in the past.

My Marshall JCM 900 has 2 12" driven by a 50W amp, and my Marshall Studio 15 has a 12" Celestion drivven by a pair of KT66 making about 15W rms.

So unless you know the sensitivity and Mms of the sub (the 2 are sorta related) dont knock it. Ok?

Navin, thanks for enlightening me on that... guess audio-n00bs like myself need to do some reading up on such basic matters.

Anyway, the 12" DVC has been purchased, along with the compos. Install might not take place for another month or two though. I will be back then to hound you guys with wiring/power/layout questions then. eheh

Thankjewverymuch

JK, you have been the object of envy for many on the forum. DR.JBLfy himself so no question of anger here !!! Hehehe.

Anyway the 502 will barely drive the gt4-15 as you and Navin have mentioned so now Im going to have to keep it boxed and start saving for a better amp.. hopefully someone is looking to dispose off their monoblocks I wouldnt mind a reliable second hand amp.

i good cheap amp to drive the GT4-15 might be the sony xmsd51x which i am told is available for about 7k. The 301.1 at 10K is the next step up. I have not heard the Sony yet so please audition it and report here. I have heard the Pio 510 but that costs about as much as the 301.1.

I would not spend that much for the sony since for about 3k Im getting the 301.1..
or maybe even a 601.1 (aaaah dreams)which is obviously better suited to this sub.
Thanks Navin

Hi souljah!
u can put in good use of your amp MRPF240 but i strongly suggest you to go in for a 15" SVC subwoofer from JBL in a perfect calculated sealed box ( Like to understand what vehicle you have). you can drive the front components for this amplifier which can go upto 50W per channel and the other 2 channels you can go on a bridged mode 100W rms. rest of hte config. in oyu r car can be retained. Also please understand if you want to go in for a DVC 12" sub you need a much better amp(idealy a monblock) to save on cost and for a better sound with what you have I suggest you an 15" JBL Sub.
If you need any fitment to be carried out you can contact me at 9845038268 cheers bye
Venu

Thanks for the suggestion.. I actually have an older pioneer sub in our lancer and im not very happy with the bass frequency. My friend has the pioneer DVC but was installed poorly and unsatisfactory to my ears as well. Plus why get pioneer when Im getting a JBL with B/W for a similar price. heheh!!!
