Smile Re: noopster's Vento gets ICEd!

Congratulations Noop. With this, I see that itch beginning to grow. Again!

In many ways, I can totally identify with the situation you found yourself in and circumstances surrounding that. "Tonnes of expenses piling up" and all that. However as aptly put by you, "the human mind is a funny thing"!! It is indeed funny how, in these cases, monetary factors are quickly relegated to a rather low priority slot.

Basically same set of Qs that Swanand has. If you'd like to discuss them offline, please do let me know.

Here's to listening to your heart and may the bliss live long.

Nice setup Anoop !

I am glad to see that sufficient amount of damping has gone in.
I am even more glad that you didn't go for those CASKA/VASKA stuff.
Way to go !
Could you share the break up of the costs ? Was installation free ?

How much did they charge for the custom sub enclosure ?

Would love a demo, in our PUNE meet.

Congrats Noopster. Nice setup.

I have been planning ICE upgrade on my 2012 Vento since day one but i am scared to risk the warranty. This thread has started the itch again and i cant wait for 4 long years for the warranty period to get over.

Surely you mean 320kbps. VBR offers you the same quality using less space than CBR.

As long as your installer uses the right harnesses yor warranty should not be void.

Noopster, Glad someone found enjoyment from the stuff just lying in my cupbaord. In fact due to lack of use and poor storage a better set of components could not be used becuase one woofer was damaged.

Thanks all. I was rather worried about the reception my thread would get in the ICE section where I seldom wander, but you guys are sweet!

About costs, I had budgeted about 70K for the whole setup but thanks to Navin's generosity, ended up spending a little over half of that only.

HU was about 14K
Woofer+box was 18K
6" coaxials were 10K
(got some discount on the above items)

Power kit, cabling: approx 3K
Speaker wire: 2K
Fascia: 1.5K

Installation: 3.5K (waived)

The thought of shooting a video etc. did cross my mind but it really doesn't make much sense- you have to hear it to experience it. Plus it is not really one of those boom-boom-blast-my-windows kinda setup at all.

Despite being insistent on the 2DIN, I must admit the 1DIN look is growing on me now! But will go ahead with the swap as soon as the stock arrives.

Ironically I now pray for traffic jams so that I can sit and enjoy the music longer.

Pune boys- we will surely audition it at next tapri meet!

Great set-up. Do I miss Rush in that list and I see Pop? !
Also more of a dumb question. How do you zero in on Blaupunkt with so many brands out there?

Congrats noopster on the new set up.
Did you really have to put the damping on the door?
I had done a similar set up, only "damping" done was additional sponge inside the rear parcel tray (which of course was vibrating before the sub and problem got "amplified" after sub was installed) .

Noopster received it from young man 'navin'.

If speakers are mounted on doors, then damping doors would be must. I guess Noisekill has been used for damping doors in this setup.

Great setup you got there Noopster It must be sounding really sweet!

BTW, why are you planning to switch to the double-din equivalent of your JVC? Does it have anything that your current HU lacks?

Thanks 97!

Nothing lacking but the 2Din fills up the space nicely compared to this. Also the display is probably bigger- the one in the 90BT feels too cramped.

Nice work!

Do you have still have the old speakers. I want to buy them. I have a trendline that is yet to be ICE'd and want to stay stock until the warranty period is over(1 year from now).

COngrats Anoop. The system looks good but these days the double DIN systems are a la mode with touch screen. I had the Sony one installed on my ride. I had the speakers replaced too although I didn't have an amp installed. What did you do with the OE stereo and speakers ?
The OEM speakers and stereo from my ride , I sold to a fellow BHPian and he put it in his Polo and is very happy with it.
Anyway have many many more musical miles with soothing music in the stressful HJN traffic.

Noopster - Do you have more pictures on the door damping? Even I had gotten the doors of my i20 damped while getting the new HU (Pioneer AVH-3490DVD) installed. But I am not sure if it was done the way it should be done for the accoustics.

Thanks in advance.

and if someone could share what is the right way to do the damping.

Sorry to post the above question: I found this though --> http://www.georgebelton.com/6g.civic...oors/index.php

My Rush CDs need to be ripped again in 320 kbps. Also some of their live stuff is not recorded right- it feels fuzzy.

I didn't. In fact I was very skeptical about Blaupunkt but you know what they say about not looking a gift horse in the mouth...

Incredible as it sounds, I already got two offers for them. Will probably give them away to the first guy who asked, though- it's only fitting that I 'pay it forward".

Sorry, no more pics. the Vento is a fairly solidly insulated car anyway and mine is a petrol to boot. The damping is more than adequate, at least to my layman ears.
