dont know which DLS model you are looking at but between the Illusion and GZ for the rear I'd take the GZ. Also if you can afford it get the GTO3501 instead of the CS 301.1

A 3501 wont do any good to him as he will have to run the sub at 4 ohms as the 3501 is not a 1 ohm stable amp. This would just get him a output of 225wrms, which is cerainly low for a 500 rms sub.

1 ohm stable amps (a la Steg, Brax, etc..) are not cheap. Either that or he gets a woofer that has 2 x 4ohm coils to get 2 ohms.

Certainly 1ohm amps are not easy to find, Epic you should have a look at Kenwood 9104D which gives 500wrms at 4 ohms and would be suitable for you.Should cost you about 15k.

Try getting a 10" Infinity sub REF1052 or REF1062 these subs can be wired to 8 or 2 ohms and RMS is also according to your 301.1 amp around 250 and 275 W RMS.
Many other brands are available in US online sites.

To tell you the truth guys, I had no intention of changing either of my amplifiers but all your suggestions state otherwise. I am totally confused now and back to square one :-(

From Epic's description to me of the sound he expects, my impression is that he wants something clean and crisp - not SPL. I plan to run the 301.1 amp in 4 ohm mode, getting 204 W rms as opposed to the 2ohm output of 290 odd.

the 3501 might not put out more power but I believe it has better damping factor and current delivery. woofers are very inductive loads...but B&T you know all that ...

Well. I think B&T had hit the nail on the head! Thank God atleast one member, i.e. ME; has come to a final conclusion on the setup required instead of increasing confusion which is usually the case :-) hahahaha.....

Thanks B&T :-)

I've owned both the 9887 and the Pio P880 and prefer the Pio. It's a matter of personal taste of course... it would be a good idea to audition both units before deciding.

But my friends, is the Pioneer P880 still available in Mumbai? Ive heard it is very hard to find a second hand let alone a brand new P880 today. If anyone knows where i can purchase a brand new P880, please let me know.

Guys, Need a little help from you.

I need to get the setup done for my swift.

Before the details, I need to inform you that my wife knows play back singing. What I meant was she's been through the musical classes and hence can make out all the nitty gritties of music and sound. So for her sake atlast, I need a simple setup.
I shall add amp and sub later.
Budget: As of now figured out to be INR 12000
Requirements: HU with Bluetooth facility to pick up calls from my handset. I receive calls on the go and hence this basic requirement.
Speakers : As of now, planning for Bull Audio. Front at stock locations, Rear 6 * 9 on MDF Panel
Damping : Needs to be done
Wiring harness.
I leave the floor to you to guide me in the right direction for these requirements
I am a mechie and hence have no idea about electronics/electiricyt which I cannot see :-}
Note: Possibility exists for increasing the budget if my wifey requirements can be met.
Love to hear from you

I just went for some information about the above ICE in market. Came to know that JBL 1004 is discontinued and no longer available. For Blau "Modern Car" says that the company is closed(band ho gayi company aab blau nahi milta). Is that true?

I went through the Specs from the website for Blau and catlog for JBL. I didnt understand which one would be more good. As the price difference between the two is significant.

JBL 1004e
100W*4 - 4 ohms
150W*4 - 2 ohms

Blau GTA4 Special MKII
Max. Power 4 Channel @4 Ohm (Watt): 4x120
Max. Power 2 Channel @4 Ohm (Watt): 2x400
Max. Power 4 Channel @2 Ohm (Watt): 4x180
RMS Power 4 Channel @4 Ohm (Watt): 4x60
RMS Power 2 Channel @4 Ohm (Watt): 2x180

I was recommended the following AMPS by another ICE shop

Infinity Reference - 475
Harmon Kardon - 470
Ground Zero MK4
Rockford Fosgate Amp P15412
Vibe P450.4
Blau P450.4

Abhinav the rates you have mentioned are MRP for Illusion and GZ 30T it seems. I got the following approximate quotes with B&W

Illusion EL 6.1 = 5500
GZ 30T = 6000 - 7990. Here the ice shop person said he is not sure about the exact rates as this is just launched model and not available with him. So he gave the higher Band just in case which is MRP.

JBL 1004 - Though not available he said it would be around 13k

Seems I am not getting the correct market prevailing rates as he wanted me to finalize there and there to give me the exact quote. Cannot accept stuff at MRP.

Dynamite Damping for front 2 doors - 2500
JBL AMP wiring kit - 2000
Illusion component speakers wire - 1000

Rates apart first need to look for some more ICE shops for options.

BTW when I told that my HU has TA and will he be able to set it he was not clear in answering this question. I feel ICE shops here in Pune are just sales minded people and hardly technical. Dont mind going mumbai if thats the case then.

Wake up Pune you are still laging behind Mumbai

FYI - Just went through JBL India website and dont see JBL 1004 amp listed there.

Is it 20k for Comps + Amp + Sub or 20k for Amp + SUb

20k for Comps + Amp + Sub would mean 13k for Amp + Sub if you choose the Illusions.

I'd say go for the GZ 30T to complement it - 8k and a Blaupunkt GT4MKII with it. - 5k.
1000-2000 more in wiring + install. So that would make it around 21-22. IMO , you'll love it.

20k for Amp + Sub could fetch you a JBL 1004 and a GZ 30T. This would be a much better imo. JBL if taken in grey would cost around 9 and the sub as mentioned would cost 8k. So you'll be left with 3k for install + wiring. You could get a bit damping if budget allows you or add that later ( which you'll have to assuming your car is the one in your avatar.)

I'll advise you to go in for the JBL + Illusion + GZ combo. It will sound totally rocking.

Hello Gurus,

I was occupied in some work so could not revert back.
This is where I had reached the last time as per above quotes.

I have a question thats irritating me. Courtesy my friends and family.

Is the sound level produced by the above equipment, justified as per the space inside the car.

I am more for SQ.

I am a noob, so answer my stupid question so that I can justify the(more) increment in my budget as well.
