It seems the best way to shop for a car speaker is to go to the store and listen to a bunch of different models.

Can someone refer few Bangalore car audio dealers names so that i can visit their shops and check out?

Thanks,
Tushar

Not necessarily For best auditioning, listen to speakers in a car, preferably with same or near-same setup that you have/will have in your car. Dealers are known to do behind-the-speaker-wall tricks to push one set of speakers over another.

Gurus,

Apparantly since I am not getting JBL 1004 and now have heared its discontinued due to some issues and its not listed on the JBL India website either. Hence I am in search of a good at par amp similar to JBL 1004. I found the following.

Harmon Kardon - CA470 - harman/kardon - @abhinav your signature shows this Amp.

-4 x 70W RMS @ 4 Ohms ---------------> Which one is correct.
-RMS Power @ 4Ohms : 4 x 85W ------> Different here
-RMS Power @ 2Ohms : 4 x 135W
-Signal-to-noise ratio: 85dBA
(reference 1W into 4 ohms)
-Signal-to-noise ratio: 104dBA
(reference rated power into 4 ohms)

-Frequency response: 10Hz – 100kHz (–3dB)

Didnt find info on how much it would provide in bridge mode for the sub.

Focal Solid 4 - Focal America

Power under 4 Ohm: 4x80W
Power under 2 Ohm: 4x100W
Bridged Mode under 4 Ohm: 2x200W
Signal/noise ratio: >85db[A]
Frequecy Response: 10Hz - 35Khz
Protections: Shot-circuit, continuous current, and thermal overload.

Need your advice to know which ones better. Suggestions for anyother are also welcome.

Planning to drive Illusion EL 6.1 and GZ 30T or JBL GT5-1204BR

Would a 10" Sub or 12" sub give a tight and deep bass?
I dont want Boom Boom.

Cant comment on the focal. The HK is a beatiful amp and costs 25k, if your budget permits certainly go for it.As for the 1004 it is certainly available.
The boom boom or the tight bass will depend upon the sub/enclosure/tuning and not the size of the subwoofer.

The Focal amp is overkill to drive El 6.1s and GZTW 30T. The 1004 would have been fine.

Default Box Design Software Programs

Thought to share with you guys few tools i come across while surfing net Car Speaker Box Plans

There are quite a few different enclosure design software programs out there. The prices range from free to $1,000+. For most designs that the novice box builder will attempt there are a few I could recommend:

Blaubox (click to download) - Blaubox has been around forever it seems. Created by Blaupunkt it's a DOS program and is very easy to use. This is the software I am most familiar because I've been using it for so many years. It's free and definitely worth checking out. It even prints out the cut sheets for your car subwoofer box plans.

WinISD- WinISD is made available by LinearTeam . It's a very highly rated, free program. Definitely worth checking out. The tone generator is a nice addition. It lets you hear what different frequencies sound like.

MacSpeakerz - For the Macintosh users without a PC emulator there is a program out called MacSpeakerz. I haven't used it personally but it's fairly popular. Provided by TrueAudio

Default ICE for me swift

I am still confused about what exactly is the difference between
coaxial and component speakers ?

I went through TBHP's advise on various ICE configurations as per ones' budget and decided that to go for :

- BLAU THc 662 2 way component speakers
- BLAU THx 572 5X7 way coaxial speakers
- Pioneer HU 2190 UB
(the total comes upto 15k excluding MDF,damping, wiring)

Also will the THc tweeters go in the front doors, speakers in the back doors and the 5x7's in the rear on my SWIFT ?

Suggestions for changes in configurations/company will be appreciated.

The 5x7 is not what will go in the rear door.
The swift accommodates 6.5 inches in the rear also.
So you would have to look for a 6.5" coaxial for the rear.

Its upto you to decide which position you like.
IMO try playing the tweeter at the following places , door, a pillar, dash and maybe some other.

Choose the one which you feel will give you the best imaging.
Where are you planning to get this installed?
