JD,
Just came back after scouring the local markets, not a single guy knows what they are selling. Speaker level input woh kya hai ? speaker toh neechay lagega ya phir peeche uske level per input kaise hoga woh to aagey dibbay mein se hi hoga. Speaker mein sirf amp se output aayega, period.

I will go to the Alpine co. shop in southextension tomorrow & hopefully will find the answer there.

Please look at the pic below for Speaker Level input which is on the left side of the RCA inputs.
ICE upgrade : Maruti Swift-jvc-front-shot.jpg

In this pic the Speaker Level input adapter is connected to the amp.

Now you may have get a fair idea for what to search for.

Hi JD & Navin,

I have been able to locate amplifier with the speaker level inputs. It is a Kenwood 8401 with a max output of 600W. Link attached. Kenwood Corporation | Car Electroics | Power Amplifiers | KAC-8404

I would appreciate if you could confirm whether the above amp will do the job. Also if you could let me know the rating for the component speakers that would go with this amp. I would also be connecting the JBL 1100W tube subwoofer to the same. Did not like the boxed enclosures due to size & weight etc.
1. Yes the stock Swift system is not heavily EQed hence you can easily add an amp and better speakers. The amp would have to one that has spekaer level inputs because the OEM head unit does not have RCA pre outs.

Interestingly this guy had an OEM unit taken off a Ritz which is identical to the unit offered on my swift (at least in looks). Now this unit had the RCA preouts. My swift is a 2008 Sept model and I checked with the local (MSM (Maruti Service Masters) per them the units in term of connectivity are identical across the Ritz, swift and Sx4 except for additional steering mounted controls for the Swift and SX4.

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Well i think the link you attached and amp you specified are entirely different.
So which is the amp : 8401 or 8404.

If you are going to any local MASS, then you can ask them to remove your head unit to have a look at the rear of the HU,whether it has a RCA out or not .

Regarding the component speakers you can select among Illusion electras,JBL,BUll etc which comes in a price range of 5K-7K.

When selecting the speakers, amps, subs look for its RMS power rather than its max power.

So happy choosing.hehe

Whoops! my mistake JD, the amplifier is the 8404 indeed as in the link. So. I will go ahead with the same. Now what do you think of the Rockford Fosgate speakers. They have just been introduced in the Indian market but I have seen these being used almost exclusively in the Overhaulin shows on T&L channel.

Default Swift ZXi ICE Upgrade

Hi Khoj,

I too have Swift ZXi (Sep'08). I upgraded my ICE couple of days back.

* FYI: Swift ZXi has 1 Pre-out.

Thanks to DerAlte for all the inputs he gave me in choosing the right upgrades for my car.

Here is what I upgraded for time being:

Infinity Ref6030cs Front Comps
JBL GT5-S644 4 Channel Amp
Polk db 1240 Sub
Audison Wiring Kit
Basic Damping for Front Doors and some fillings for rear door

Installation was done by one of the popular installer among the members in Team-BHP.

Two issues I faced while installing on ZXi is:
1) No remote cable in ZXi that can switch off Amp when you switch off the HU. So we had to provide a separate switch for Amp to be switched off/on. This can be resolved when I upgrade my HU!
2) The issue which I see now is the "hisss" noise in the front comps (which is near to me!) when I press the accelerator when the car is in idle condition with HU switched off. I don't know how we can solve this issue.

May be Team-BHP gurus can help me sort these issues!

Thanks,
Deepak

Hi deepax,
Thanks for sharing the info, so it is now confirmed that the HUs for Swift & Ritz are identical.

Regarding the two issues that you mention, I was wondering whether
1. An amp with signal sensing power on feature would negate the need for the on/off switch.
and
2. regarding the hissing sound, try the following link where Jithudigitised has spoken about the same including its source and resolution in his DIY project. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/diy-do...ower-wire.html

About the rockford fosgate speakers, i haven't heard them,so can't comment.

For the speakers, i would recommend you to audition among them and select according to your taste of music.

Hi deepax,

Your thanks should go to Jithudigitised, I merely pointed out the thread.

BTW when you go to the installer do try to find out whether an on/off switch would be required even if we were to use a signal sensing power on Amplifier.

Right khoj!

Thanks Jithudigitised.

I will be sorting this noise thing in couple of days.

Khoj, I will check the point you mentioned when I visit the installer.

Cheers

Proposed upgrade

Head Unit : Pioneer 6950 (Will upgrade to a highend later when budget permits)

Should I change the headunit & 75.4 amp? If yes, for a setup like this, which amp & headunit would you suggest?
