JBL gt256 component - 4700Rs 60 w/peak 240 w
JBL GTO 608 - 5500Rs 400 w (he said its the latest and the best )
4ch JBL Amp - 6500 Rs
Head Unit -7500Rs pioneer model no 3190 with 2 rc out.
Wiring -2200Rs

4)how to decide between a 4ch amp and a 2 ch amp ?

5) should i go in for ovals or components at the back ?

6) what about the woofer which is fitted in the rear parcel tray ?

Sorry for boring you with the doubts .But would love to get it cleared !
1) Different Brands have different Sound Signatures. Better to Audition few and decide on the one you like

2) Kenwood are very good VFM. They bring in Decent SQ at lower prices than their Competing counterparts. However, Higher end models from Alpine and Pioneer are of a different leauge. Again Audition -- decide on what features you want / use.

3) More number speakers, wont necessarily give a better sound. Infact they spoil it. If you are going for a sub, door speakers makes more sense. Esle opt only for 6x9 (ovals) at the rear

4) 4 Ch Amp provides 4 Channels of Amplification and 2 Ch, 2 Channels. If you want to Amplifiy all 4 Speakers (Front 2 and Rear 2) use a 4 Ch.

5) If its a chauffeur driven car, it makes sense to have components at rear. Else, Coaxials should go fine

6) Subs that need enclosures when fitted in parcel tray provides more jarring and vibrations than actual Thump. You ll need free-to-air subs for that use. It is better to go with Enclosed Subs if you really care about Audio Quality. If you are thinking of space, forget the subs, a good 6 x 9 wil do a decent job for you.

I hope you got some of your doubts clear now?

Sorry, didnt see it earlier.

Seems ok, except for GTO 608 - I mean i dont know the price of it.

See if you can get a model with 3 preouts (From Kenwood / Alpine / Pioneer). This will be useful incase you are upgrading to a Sub at later stage (Who knows, you might end up being bitten by the ICE bug)

The Wiring amount of 2.2k is includive of Wiring for Amp, Rear MDF tray and Installation ? - If yes, it Fine

Can i know what place is this ?

Default Primus gets some additions!!

After a whole lot of contemplating I finally took the plunge and got a sub installed in my car!! And now all the contemplating suddenly seems so so so so worth it!!

The first setup I got done the day I got my car consisted of the following-
- Pioneer DEH P5190UB
- Infinity Ref 9633i Co-Axials
- Infinity Ref 6030CS

This setup floored me moment it was installed. Great clarity, Rich Bass and amazing performance in total. Day by day I started exploring settings till the day I found the best setting that would suite all kinds of music that I listened to (Rock, Metal, Trance and House).

3 months later I realized that I had crossed the limits to which the speakers could perform with the HU. So thats when all the contemplation came about and the hunt began for a good sub setup.

Original plan was to install a Blaupunkt GTA 4 Special MKII amp and a Polk DB840 Sub. In the mean time I read about a certain not to be mentioned here Active Subs. Went and took demo's of their 8" and 10" products, found them to be too boomy and just did not live up to my expectations.

Then came about the Kenwood 4 channel and JBL 4 channel amps that would be mated to a MA Audio 10" Dual coil sub. But still budget wise and sense wise it didn't make any sense. So further contemplation lead me to listen to other peoples setups in their cars.

Anyways, day before yesterday I just decided I would take the plunge based on all the reading I had done and all the people I had spoken to, went over to the dealer I had picked up my first setup from and asked him to show me all the 10" subs and amps to go along with it.

Final call
- JBL GT5 S644 Amp
- JBL GT5-10 Sub

Installation was done using EFX cables and a locally made enclosure. One day of listening later the amp was tuned again and now I'm like a super happy lil kid who is jumping around waiting for any chance to go for a drive!!

Hi Guys,

I would be installing Alpine IDA-X303 in my swift. I am considering Polk Audio DB6501.

Let me know if there are any other worth considering options.

Default ICE setup for my swift

I have a 2008 swift zxi and now i am planning to change just the amplifier.
had an alpine v12 amp previously(which is totally screwed now..!!).
the stock kenwood built-in player has been replaced by a JVC in-dash DVD system. also have a pair of VIBE 650W speakers at the rear along with 4 factory fitted ones(in the doors) also an earthquake sub in the boot.

wanted to know if the BLAUPUNKT GTA 4 SP MK II amp would be good enough for my current configuration.

guys really need your help...

I am considering Polk speakers for my friends Swift D. Should I be considering other speakers like Hertz, Boston A, or since the wallet allows for polk speakers, I should just go ahead with Polk only ? Suggestions pls.

Suggestion is simple, @seva: listen to as many brands as you can, and use your ears (and what is in between) to figure out which one you like. Prices of these brands are +/- very similar.

Thanks DEr..

Now the next question is where will be able to have this luxury to listen to all the brands ? Sathya is a good man who has let me listen to couple of brands by fixing them directly on the car. But I see that activity as cumbersome and time consuming. So is there any other place in Bangalore where we can listen without installatiing in the car, like how we preview Home theater systems ?

S3va, many years ago car audio companies used to distribute a rig that could carry many pairs of speakers and a switch box so one oculd rapidly switch beteeen the speakers. however a car's acoustics are very different from that of the rooms these rigs were installed in and that left many a confused and disappointed buyer.

your best resource are your friends and listening to as many installs as possible. Even ordinary installs can be a learning experience.

I have a swift with me and I/m going to install components in the front . I just have a small doubt regarding the same. The tweeters which come along with the components, where should I place them.
In some cars I have seen them in the Door pads next tot he door opener and some of them have a small hole drilled in the front column and place the tweeter there.
Can the audio gurus please help me on where to place the tweeter so that the best output can be got .
