Default re: ICE upgrade : Maruti Swift

Ok I've sold (actually part exchanged) my Safari and have landed up with a super mini-Suzuki Swift to be exact, but managed to salvaged my beloved sound system, going to try a subless set up with active front end (maybe) subless because I have married into a family who travel light (but have no understanding of the word light) therefore frequently I will have to carry suitcases, which means no Subs (my subs and mono amp are listed in the classifides) and a roof rack will be order of the day. With such a set up damping will be my main priority, front doors, a pillar, boot lid and spare tyre well ( The squeeking sound from there is very irratating)

The amp (genesis P4) will go beneath the passenger seat, the tweeters will probably go on the a pillars, will check the accoustics before grabbing my hole saw, I have super tweeters, but not used them, as I like the top end a little subdued. The HU is an Apline 9887, which will require imprint tuning, the speakers are Hertz HSK 165's. Not sure if I'll put speakers in the back doors, if I do they will run off the HU anyway, so this is not important, front stage is what flicks my switch and I achieved it nicely in the Safari, the Swift should be a lot easier, but without subs i could be missing some low end, I want to get the environment right before I start installing, as usual I will probably do the install myself, as time is precious, i need to plan this one out. So any advise on the swifts accoustics capabilities wiould be most welcome!

Now onto the next, I like stealth and want the set up to look as stock as possible, so the woofers will need to be mounted in the doors on mdf spacers, will an mdf 18mm spacer give enough clearance to fit the door card back on, without modding it?

Cheers,

Stefan

Default Speakers for Swift

Hi,

I am looking for good car speakers for our swift. Please suggest. Following are the criteria:
  1. 4 speakers + 2 Tweeters
  2. 4 speakers should go to the door pads (advice if additional wooden ring required.
  3. Tweeters can be on the dashboard or on A pillar
  4. Not a big budget
  5. Decent set of speakers are OK
  6. JVC bluetooth stereo already available with me (don't remember the model number).
Thanks in advance for the all the gurus. I am planning this over the weekend. If you could reply quickly that would help.

Please advice on the model of the speaker + the possible budget.

Are you planning to use an amplifier or would you be using built in amplifier of HU?

You can use components at front (cost ~6 - 8k), this would give you speakers + tweeters crossovers for these two.

For rear, you can sue 6 inch coaxials (cost 6k).

have you auditioned JBL GTO6508C (component) and GTO6508C (coaxial). Both are 6 inchers and would fit easily in swift.

Yes its for pair of speakers for coaxials at back and pair of speakers + tweeters for front components.

These posts have been moved to proper thread. You would get ideas from browsing this thread itself.

But DO visit car audio shops and audition the speakers yourself.

JBL component speakers GTO6508C are good. I am using it in my Fabia (rear doors).
There is a JBL dealer in Nagarabhavi area - if that location is convenient for you.
He is an exclusive JBL dealer

Guys I have a Pioneer 3950 HU with two coaxial speakers on the front door of my Swift. Now I want to upgrade the front speakers only to components and shift the existing front speakers to the rear door. The car is self driven 75% of time with one person onboard only. All speakers will be driven by HU only. No plan in future for sub or amplifier (I hate boomy music - just love the natural output). I can attach my Sansa clip to the HU through the Aux in and play Flac too. So, what I need is some suggestions for a pair of components which is VFM and of decent sound quality. Budget is 6K max (would be happy if I could buy something cheaper )
