You should PM a few bhpians from Kolkata for this. But I believe all the major car audio shops should have these.

Guys,
Offtopic, but please help me out here or point me to a swift general thread if any.

I am planning to buy an used zxi. i have choices from the year 2005 to 2008. I would like to know have there been any changes in the interiors at any point of time ? I do know know that new swift gets a new engine. But any other changes ????

Default Help me build a budget ICE

Hello Everyone !

In a few days I'll be taking delivery of my new Swift and I figured I'd ask sooner than later. My budget is 25,000. That is final, Now I know people tend to go over their budget here :P but I can't stress this enough 25k is the most I can afford to spend on my ICE as the rest is to be spent on the window film and seat covers etc.
I would love it if I could somehow get a bluetooth enabled HU and an Amp & Sub squeezed in here. The only brand preference I have is Pioneer for the HU.

Thanks in Advance.

Default Upgrading my Swift's Head Unit?

I am looking for a HU under 10k for my swift.
Currently i have my 3 yr old Alpine CDE-9846 as the HU.
Infinity Ref9633i which i got recently for the rear.
6" JBl Coaxials in the front.(don't remember the model)
I would be looking at the front components after a month or so.

I listen to all sorts of music but primarily bollywood.
My Music Collection Quality breakup:
50% MP3 320kbps
30% FLAC
(For ICE maybe i can play it though my iphone after conversion to ALAC)
20% ACD's

I am considering the following Head Units :
1.KDC-U546BT 9k
2.KCD-U7046BT 12k
3.DPX-MP5110U 11k
4.DEH-6250BT 9k
5.AVH-2390DVD 15k
6.KDC-8016BT 9.5k(1yr old from team-bhp classifieds)
Although out of my budget but i might be able to extend my budget for this
Approximate prices with B&W
Or any other HU for around 10k.

Priorities :
1.SQ
2.Bluetooth
3.Price/VFM
3.Looks

Also can you advise how does the JBL-X333 fair against the above listed models comparing on the SQ aspect solely.
Also how is it worth swapping it with the 9846 just because of the USB,if SQ is the prime concern.
I have it in my other car,i can swap it and save the moolah for the sub.

Please Advise,I want to make a quick decision.

Default Re: Head Unit Dilemma ~ 10K Budget

For my money, it would be
1. The Kenwood 8016 (superior SQ + Time Alignment)
2. Kenwood 7046 (similar SQ to 8016)
3. DEH 6250

JBL X333, though quite competent and sweet sounding, is not really comparable by your specs. Not heard the 9846, so I can't comment on it - but then you don't get USB, BT etc. do you? That would be an apples v/s oranges comparison, since judging HU SQ only is rather difficult and subjective.

I'd choose between these 2. Neither can read FLAC so ALAC it will have to be.

LBM got some HU that can read FLAC I forget the model but know that it is considerably more than 15K.

Default Re: Upgrading my Swift's Head Unit?

^^ thanks for the advice.
I have changed my mind a bit and am thinking of going in for a sub & an amp as well. You know the team-bhp ice bug.

What I have :
Infinity Ref 9633i Coaxials
2 HU's :JBL X-333 And Alpine CDE-9846
My Budget Around 30k.
What i need :
A subwoofer and a 4 Channel Amp (JBL S644?)
Front components or a New Head Unit(Which One 1st?)
I don't think i can get the front components and a new HU in this budget,so i can get one of them later.

Also i am a little keen on the AVH-2390DVD just because of it being a double din & looks.
Can you advise would there be a noticeable difference if compared it to 7046BT.I felt the difference when i bought my alpine HU over an equivalent HU from Pioneer.

Also how much difference does time alignment make in SQ with the kind of equipment i would be going in this budget.Basically i want to know if i should try and get an HU with TA ?

Please pour in your suggestions !

Note:Mods Please Update the thread topic.

I'll answer you last question first.

TA has little to do with pure SQ. TA allows the bass (usaully in a trunk) to be aligned the midbass and tweeter in the front. SQ is just simple sound quality. The 9846 that you have for example does not have TA bus has good SQ. In my view TA is optional (although a very essential option) but SQ is a must. A HU with TA would start at about 15K

I would get the components first as they will give you the biggest bang for the buck.

So i guess i should re frame my requirements :
1.Component Speakers
2.A Subwoofer + 4 Channel Amp
3.Wiring(3k?) + Damping(for the front doors - 4k?)
Total 30k max.
As far as the HU is concerned i''ll try getting it from US by October.
My options for the HU have changed although
Alpine CDA117/iDA-X305S
Kenwood X994 or 7036BT(if i buy it here)
We can finalize the other equipment.

This looks good. One point to note: the X305 is a non-CD HU but is designed to navigate an ipod

Also would it be logical to go only for a mono amp for the sub and keep running the speakers of the HU ?

If i should go in for a 4 channel then i found a few in my budget :
Focal Solid 4
Alpine MRP-F300
Alpine PM-FX640
Rockford R300.4
JBL GTO1004
JBL GT5-S644 (Best Fit Budget wise)
Others are around 10-12k

If Mono
Focal Solid 1
Alpine MRP-F500
JBL GT5-A3001

How about going in for a powered sub like JBL GT-BassPro12?

Components : Which ones under 10k or around?

HU: Most probably thinking of going with x7016 locally?Kenwood india site shows it has TA.

The Focal and JBL GT5 amps fit your budget best. Powered subs are convienent but dont normally offer the same SQ or value as a mono+sub combo.

You can components from JBL, Polk, Infinity, Alpine for under 10K per pair.

Hey guys,

My friend has some surplus cash and I plan to make him part with it.. So how does one go about it?? Drop subtle hints that his car needs new ICE and he's finally agreed to upgrade the audio. He has a Swift Vxi and he strictly wants to maintain the stock looks(read HU and speaker locations) and is open to subwoofers and a 2/4 ch amp.

Budget is max 12000

Please guide me in finding a right set of equipment for the budget.. The installation will be done in house(DIY)
