what sub + compo do you suggest under 10k?
I mainly listen to progressive trance and Hindustani classical(yes i know weird combo)
I like tight bass, not the slapping and flabby kind :P
please suggest a suitable combo..

Under 10K? None, unfortunately!

Infinity Ref components + sub + box is going to be 11K, and that is the cheapest I can think of. The next higher would be Polk db. Morel Maximo with a Polk or Infinity sub about the same. Bull may just be cheaper, but I would put Infinity and Polk ahead of it.

My dad has a 2005 Swift Zxi in Mysore. This was the first Zxi in Mysore and in those days Zxis did not come with stereo.
I am planning to install some basic audio in it. I have a budget of about 10K + or - 20%. All i need is a head unit and couple of front speakers. Bluetooth would help but is not mandatory.
Are there any options i can explore in the market? I am ok to get it done in Mysore or Bangalore.

Please help

If you don't need a CD and can do with a pen drive. Most people don't use cd's anyway. You can go in a for a JVC KD-X50BT . Good head unit with bluetooth. Costs approx 5.5k
Add a decent pair of component speakers from JBL for around 4.5-6k.

I have booked a Swift ZDI and expecting delivery sometime next month (hopefully). I have a few questions on the stock ICE in Swift

1) Does the new Swift comes up with components and cross over at the front?

2) I have with me a GT4 series 12" sub woofer, Velocity VC 475 amp with high level input and Velocity VC 542 comps with crossover from my previous cars. Would adding the available amp, sub and replacing the front comps with Vc542 make any positive difference to the sound than the stock? Is it worth the effort?

Check with your dealer. Most probably not.

Yes, it will - a lot.

Hey guys,

I already have a Pio 6050HU with illusion Electra 6.1 compos in the front and Pio 3 way oval in the rear parcel tray. Wanted to add an amp and a sub of some tight punch. Budget is around 10k. What are my options.

TIA

Kenwood / JBL / Pio / Sony 4 channel amp. Drive the front components off the front channels of the amp, bridge the rear channels to drive the sub. the 6x9 ovals can stay on the HU. 5-6K.

Sub: 12" JBL or Infinity sub (4-5K) in a sealed box. You will need to add the cost of the box and cabling, and some damping - at least of the hatch.

Dear BHPians,

Hello to all . I am new to BHP and i am glad and verymuch looking forward to have lots of fun and learning

My first post is on getting my Swift ICEd.

I have recently bought a new Swift Vxi and need a good audio system for it.

I prefer quality of the sound rather than the volume so need the audio quality to be crisp and clear.

My requirements are 1 Double DIN HU ( dont prefer 1 DINs) 2 front Speakers and 2 Rears - can avoid placing them on the tray if possible.
At this point i am not going for AMPs or SUBs

I have short listed SONY-WX-GT77UI- Looks very cool.
Front and rear JBL- i am not sure of which exact models i need to opt.

I would welcome your suggestions on the same.
Thanks

Hi Phoenix. Welcome to Team-BHP mate, and congrats for the car.
As you mentioned that you prefer quality of the sound, then I would first of all advice you to look ahead of Sony. They are decent, but you can certainly get much better. You can get Kenwood and Pioneer 2-DIN units for around the same price of the Sony, or a bit more. I have a Pioneer 6050 2-DIN on my Swift, and a Sony system on my Esteem.

As for the speakers, JBL's are good. You can also have a look at Hertz, Infinity, Polk, but make sure you audition the setup before deciding.
Since you are not planning for amps and subs as of now, you can place 6x9 oval speakers on the rear parcel tray, which should be an MDF board ofcourse.
Placing plain round co-axial speakers on all doors will be a decent option too, but it would lack the bass you can get atleast from the ovals on the tray. Do not go for component speakers unless you plan to get an amplifier to power them.

Cheers!

Incorrect. It is not about the power being fed to the components. Even off an HU's internal amp, a set of components up front gives a very good sound image and separation of frequencies - much better than a coax.

An external amp will enhance the dynamics -
* better handling of musical passages from soft all the way up to really loud crescendos
* lack of distortion when occasionally one feels like cranking it up

Oops! My bad. Thanks for correcting DerAlte Sir. I guess I have read too many threads where it was advised to install amps for components. That's why I mentioned the same over here.

Thanks for the reply manjot

and thanks for the clarification DerAlte

So manjot how is the Sony doing in your esteem? I liked the SONY-WX-GT77UI because its a good looking 2-DIN HU from Sony and has basic features like AUX and USB. I think it very well suits the interiors of new Swift with waterfall console.

I will probably check Kenwood and Pioneer and comeback for reviews.

However for the JBLs you have mentioned can you please point out the model numbers for front and rear so that i can check out further as i am absolutely cluless on the configurations.

Hi Phoenix.

The Sony in my Esteem is a 6 year old, basic single DIN unit with AUX support. It has decent output, but no match to other brands. Looks wise, yes, Sony does manufacture one the better looking units. But, if you like good quality music, then it would be better to judge by your ears.

As for the JBL speakers, you can have a look on their website and choose according to your budget - India JBL
Try the new launches. All models are good in their own way. You'll have to judge which suits your ears.

You get the option of Infinity too. Audition both the brands.
