Hi peeps.

This was taken delivery of late last night. Vxi with 26 km's on the odo.

The car was delivered with a Pioneer hu - deh 3790mp & a pair of .2 mm fronts i guess...

has anyone used/reviewed the 3790. apparently, its a 4 channel high-power wma/mp3 unit.

So, with a budget of 12-15k alongwith a pair of well run-in Pioneer 6990 6x9''s, i seek your opinion. thy humble install shalt take place this coming sunday, that gives thee almost 6 days to suggest and re-suggest.

cheers to 1 and all

revhard

p.s.:
1. car is basically for mom and;
2 It will be used by me on the all the roadtrips henceforth. permission granted on day1 by momsie

p.p.s: keep in mind the 2nd point mentioned above (hehehehehahahahahahhooooooooooooooowoooooooohoooo ooooooooooo)

spend some amount on good cabling (rca etc) save what you have left after that

Of course not terribly exciting as most of us HAVE seen money before.

Sam, the pic wasn't posted to excite/titilate anyone. was posted just for the heck of it sirji.

anyways, i'm going down to the authorised jbl dealer in R block(GK-I) to pick up the compos & the 60.4 OR 75.4 tomorrow.

need to ask you though, does the auth dealer in gk-1 do installation as well?

also, is there any chance of getting a discount, me being a t-bhp member?

please do reply

regards

Hi Naveen and Audio Gurus,

Thanks for the suggestion. After reading in some of the threads of this post, I came to this configuration for speakers. I want to go for
front : JBL GTO607
read: JBL GTO637 both do be driven by HU (No amp).

HU: I haven't still decided on Pioneer or kenwood. I leave this at the time of purchasing as I understand that HU's from both companies are good.

I am not sure if I opt for GTO 607C how they will mount the Tweeter and crossover. I don't want any kind of structural changes in the car like cutting of A-pillar etc.

Please suggest me if my selection is right at this moment.

With Rgds,

Rajneesh

Nah, the MCD shut that down.

3 choices,

a) a surface mount on the dash
b) surface mount by cutting the inside of the A pillar no this does NOT affect your car structurally.
c) cutting a hole in the car door (on the inside).

the last 2 options do NOT alter the mechanicaly rigidity of your car but does alte the car cosmetically. that means if you sell your car you sell your tweeters (or lave holes).

hi,

got the install done on sunday from elegant. it was recommended by a d-bhpian so went ahead without any worries.

here's the list:

1. Pioneer 5850 (not from elegant)
2. Pioneer 6990 4way 6x9's (already had these fitted in a custom made box).
3. JBL 60.4 amp
4. JBL 607 components (up front where they belong).
5. Sony 16 cm 2way in rear door pod.
6. JBL wiring kit

Well, I was quite satisfied while making the purchases, but not quite satisfied with the installation work done. Especially those cooked-to-perfection one line answers from the installers (you know, yeh to aise hi hota hai, yeh to aise hi lagta hai, itna alternator noise to aiga hi )

Having been lighter by about an odd 22k or so, I wish I would have waited for 1 more day and visited Driven sir & Gunbir sir.

The sound is just okie-dokie right now and nothing to boast about.

I hope everything gets sorted out this sunday after the expert hands of seniors are put to improving the installation.

@ Driven sir & Gunbir sir: Please spare some time on this upcoming sunday to sort out a fellow bhpians misery.

Cheers (a not too loud one)

rev_hard

p.s.: I must thank Ishan & Sam for the immediate help you both provided in procuring the 60.4, and many many thanks to you Sam for that 10% discount(while billing, Elegant guy was like - Ravi, Sam ka phone aaya tha yaar, marwayega kya - 10% discount laga jaldi se)

As you all must be knowing that i bought a new Swift VXi. Now, in Dec'06 i was here searching frantically for some good speakers for my WagonR, which my mom would use now. With good advice from Sam., speed and others i had put JBL 5.25 inch GTO537 in front and 6 inch JBL Coaxials in the back and replaced the HU with Pioneer 6850.

Now can i, some how, fix the 5.25 inch compos in the front in Swift? I know Swift takes 6 inches, but would 3/4 inch be manged somehow..I dont want to lose money by selling the GTO537 and get new GTP637 for this.

I am looking at some quick answers as i have to send my WagonR to Kolkata on Saturday (read 03-Feb). Please advice.

Maybe a spacer ring can help.

.
First - I advise you put your existing GTO637 in the front.
Second, like Navin said, get a trim ring made, that makes the diameter of the rear door hole, from 5.5" (existing) to 4.75". A good installer/carpenter can do this for you.

Sam, i am sorry, i mixed up the model numbers. I already have JBL 5.25 Inch Compos GTO507 and 6 inch coax in the rear. So you mean that i should put the 507, but then my question arised, whether i can fix these in Swift front as they take 6 inches.

@Navin, you meant this can be done, right?
