LOL, Sam it was soundfx in Andheri.

Here is the convo between me and him. The speakers had not arrived, and he was saying half an hour every half and hour from 11.30 onwards and it was 2:30, it arrived at 3:45 finally.

Him : Sir, speakers have not come (very ignorant)
Me : How much time.
Him : Another half an hour, i have called them from Mumbai(again being ignorant)
Me : From whom, Sahil international?
Him : Kinda shocked, yaya
Me : Fx Audio, Sam Kapasi
Him : (Kinda getting a shock) How do you know him.......
Me : He is the director of JBL India, i know him.
Him : Sir, will you have lunch, Chotu(his worker) Lunch la aur drinks la sir ke liye and switches on the tv for me

Another intresting bit is how people try to sell their stuff, he didnot have the 607C, so he told me DKS, Infinity and made me hear that, i was insisting in JBL 607C, he was like they have problems in Mid Bass, but i had PMed Sam before going to him asking Sam about the speakers so i was bent on them, after the speakers came he by mistakely uttered the 607c are very famous, yesterday i sold 2 sets itself.

Sam you are an institution (that you really ought be living in one is another story). Some moons back I went to a new mall near Malad and they had a JBL showroom. So here I am at 10am browsing through an empty mall that opens at 11am. I see a JBL a store. Somone is inside but the doors are locked. So I peer in.

Someone comes to the door and says "sorry the store is closed, it will open at 11am". I say "It's ok, I was just checking if you guys know Sam". The door opens.

A wide mouthed guys ushers me in with the words "You know Sam". I sheepishly say "Yah, he is an old friend". Sam, Apparently the sales person has met you once. Just once. Geez. What did you do that kid?

I envison Sam as the hero in a song by the Guess Who called Truckin' Across the Sky, some of the lyrics are not printable here but these are...
"The Reaper wants to take you all for a ride
His private train is leaving
To slip you to the other side"

Hehe,..Let me Join this Ot convo...

I was in Mumbay on the 10 of this month and happened to chance upon a JBL store in some Mall.I actually wanted to pick up the JBL headphones.Beautiful pieces those things.
Was Just about to pick them up when my pesky elder brother comes in and slows things down(time was of the essence you see).

Ya,so my brother walks in and says,"So how much discount will you get"and very softly says to himself "Sam Kapasi..huh!".That was it!Sales guy's eyes popped out and hes like "you Know Sam!!You know Sam?""How do you know Sam?"I muttered something about Sam giving me a Summer Job after which my dad pulled me out of the shop.

Till date,..i wont forget the look on that guys face.Priceless!

Hi!
I am a newbie on this forum but it has got me hooked. I even spend my travelling time (in Mumbai thats 3 hours to&fro by BEST) reading the posts on my mobile!
Got to this site when doing research for my car (its the first one). Finalised on the Swift diesel.
Next big task was the ICE for the same. Started reading this thread Tuesday night, bunked office Wednesday so that I could read more and just about finished today.

After going through all the posts, I am clear on the speakers front but fuzzy on the HU. I am not an audiophile, like to listen to all sorts of music (bismillah khan to bollywood to hard rock - everything foes). The budget is around 20k. Intend to go fr JBL coax both on the front and rear fill.
I need a HU with USB as well as Bluetooth so i can use hands free with my SEK750i.
Any suggestions?

Also for guys from Mumbai . I am buying the car from Spectra,Borivli (2 months waiting!). Do i buy the ICE and install from them? - He has Blaupunkt and Kenwood. Else which outlet would be the best bet for purchase and install (western suburbs)
I will be highly obliged if I get an answer from Sam!!!

@ ceebeezee - I would seriously advice you not to go in for coax and dont install from dealers.
You can get a good system for a budget of 2k

Kenwood HU with USB(with B&T) - 6k
Front Compos JBL GTO 607c - Around 6.5k(B &T) but you can get it for around 6k
Rear JBL GTO937 - around 4k with B&T
MDF tray and installation - 1k
Pioner 307C - 3.5k
There you go around 22k and you can add a amp later on.

You can go to soundfx at Andheri(E) i got my system installed from there, very professional and you could mention to him about the guy who got 4 607c fitted with pioneer HU on his white Swift and you could get a nice discount.

If you are adding a sub you will need an amp as well, no HU can drive a sub well. Maybe you can add the sub and amp later.

Intend to put the sub and amp at a later stage.

But for front Compos, where is an ideal place for the tweeters? I dont want my Swift to be cut open and not bent upon a flush look also. Any pictures on the forum of an install job well done?
Thanks for allowing your referral BUSA, . I am into sales & marketing and very well know the advantage of "cues" that trigger price discounts!!!

As far as the HU goes, I need something that also has bluetooth as mentioned before. Does the kenwood/pio HU you recommend have those?

And if not too much to ask - directions/address for sound fx. I shall blindly follow a teamBHPian's recommendation on ICE!

there are 3 choices.

Flush: A pliiar.
Flush: door panel
Surface: Dash

Flush involves cutting. No choice. Surface has it's own disadvatages.

I would recommend the dash first listen to it if you like it then it is fine or else use double sided adhesive tape to try different location and then flush mount it to final it....
