I like to be warm... My wife likes to be cool...

That tends to lead to extremes, rather than a nice, even setting!

Also, the HU will often be unused: I think we tend to chat more in the car than we do in the house!

Any thoughts on those leads, guys?

1. close the AC vents at your end it will keep the pollution out and keep you warm.
2. keep the HU on with no volume it will keep the HU above dew point.

went along with mano to pick up the ice heres what he got

pioneer hu 4900 (which he got from the states)
gto 607c for fronts
6 inch coaxials for rear doors
jbl 60.4 4 channel amp
12in bass tube in the boot CS1204T ( aka lpg cylinder as onlookers called it)

the wiring was suspect but i think the amp wiring kit is genuine , jbl which came in a zip bag with a lot of carboard compartments but the extra rca cable looked like those fake cables someone posted here earlier.anyways its done so no more thinking about it

after the install (which was pretty well done for roadside wallas) the settings were such that the bass was too owerpowering.. felt that whole car was vibrating and both me and mano couldnt take it

later tweaked it a bit so its ok now but i guess we would still need some inputs from the gurus on tweaking it a bit. will let mano post as to how he would like that.

Unhappy Please Suggest some reliable dealer for my ICE Setup

I have almost decided on the ICE part.

HU: Pioneer 4950 cost varies around 3.5 - 4 K ( still considering 5950 )
Speakers ( front only ) : JBL GTO 507 cost varies around 5 K
Both these are without B/W. But i am little concerned about this fact , Is there a way to know weather this stuff is genuine and not second hand . L_B_M Bhai and other Audio Gurus Please help me out in this.

I would request you guys to please suggest any good reliable dealer in Delhi / Noida .. .

@bottle, even before I reach home, you have posted. Thanks.
Thanks every one for helping me decide on the ICE. I am happy with the setup.
I would like to know the good settings for the amp, please help on it.
I listen to Indian Film music, country songs (Kenny rogers, John Denver, Alison kraus etc) and pop. I am not a big fan of Rock and Metal. I dont like the bass to shack my car. Your inputs are much appreciated.

Why are you going for a 5 inch component kit in the front when a 6.5 inch can be installed with out any hassle..

Try the new DRIVEN store at East of Kailash. They do a good job and they carry Alpine, Pioneer, Boston, JBL, Kenwood, Hertz, and more...

I dont know Delhi but in Mumbai I have found that most dealers are reliable if

1. if they know that you know what you are doing
2. if you let them make a decent profit upfront. if you cut them tothe bone they will cut corners too
3. if you insist on all bills, manufacturers warranties etc
4. if you give them exact specifications on your install like

"I want the RCA and speaker wires running along the left of the car and the power wires running along the right fo the car"

"I want the subwoofer in located here, the amp located here, the front tweeters located here"

and dicuss deatils like which mounts they will use for the tweeters, what wires they wil use, how will they lay out the damping sheets, etc...

* "here" is places I mark out using white chalk

If you visit the Sound off and show off section you will see a lot of very nice installs. You can take tips from these. I often print out photos from this section (as well as other forums) to show the installers exactly what i mean.
