Tried reading through the explanations for various types of dibbas, but guess opening a koppdi is easier then understanding this.

I enquired about the power mismatch not because of loudness, but because i keep reading every where that under powering speakers is harmful for their health, with the distortion produced as loud volumes.

I had my system done an Mangalore at a place called 'No Fear' looked neat enough the way guy put it in, guess will be going back to him.

What dibbas did you read up on? And where?

Oh, man! That is really amusing - "underpowering is harmful for their health"!!! This is NOT akin to muscular atrophy / dystrophy.

Distortion from the SPEAKER will come if the speaker power handling capacity is LOWER than the current you are pushing into it (amp power). If the speaker is higher power than amp, amp output distortion at high volume will be faithfully reproduced by the speaker. The sounds are distinctly different. At high volume, underpowered speakers go woomf-woomf whooosh-whooosh (a lot like the ultra-sound scan output of the heart) for low-frequencies; underpowered amps sound like how, alas, Lata Mangeshkar sounds now - a lot of krrrs and chrrrrs accompanying the music.

Question query

i want some help from our ICE gurus

1. Your Car: swift vdi

2. Your current setup (If any): have purchased Pioneer AVH-P5950DVD

3. Your Budget: 25k for speakers, amp, sub n whatever required.

4. Do you drive most of the time or is it chauffer driven? me always

5. Your Music preferences (Genres, favorite artists, etc.): modern rock, metal, trance

Additional Information:

6. Are you ready to sacrifice your boot space/modify door panels? : partially maybe for a sub

Now the sound that im lookin for is really clear and sharp, would like SQ. Dont want too much of Boom.

Now after spending days in ICE section i have found that JBL GTO 607c n 937 are a good combo for speakers. Also in my small town my dealer only has JBL, Infinity and POLK audio. So was looking for speaker recommendations in these brands.

About the amp have heard that the famed 75.4 is no more. so looking for a new decent 4 channel amp

With regards to the sub , is it really required.

Hope all the ICE guys help me

well guys i have increased my budget to 35~40K.. the lesser the better. Now i also wanted damping to be done..

My local accessory shop is pushing polk audio speakers and telling me its far better than JBL or infinity.. is it true?
Also heard that JBL 75.4 is still available in grey for 8.5K, is it safe to go for it?
For cables he said scorche cables.. how are they?

For damping he said some audiobahn sheets. about 1800/sheet..

Please guys give me your advice...

No. Polk is one of the inferior products in the market, pushed aggressively by dealers due to higher margins being offered to them. Do listen to stuff before you buy, you will find there are far better products out there.

so i guess im better off buying JBL or Infinity..

Also i wanted to know are rear speakers really required?
i have seen a few members only get front components and sub..
so if im going for a sub, are the rear 6X9 coaxials really required?

Rear Speakers make sense if you have rear passengers. Rear passengers will not hear teh front speaker as well as the front passenger becuase in a car there are a lot of objects (car seats) that block direct sound from the front speakers to the rear passngers.

If you have a sub then even a pair of 6" coax will be adequate for the rear. The sub will produce most of the bass anyway. Having said that there are many who like the mid-bass thump provided by 6x9s.

Oye prices are looking allright macha seems like a mix of grey+official!

Subwoofer enclosure seems a little pricey but I guess he is adjusting his commission here and there. No mention of the installation cost.

Scosche wiring is it RCA's for 2x950? For that price you can get an entire wiring kit (fuse holder, power cable, 1 rca, speaker wire, connectors etc)

JBL 75.4 is still very much available with B&W, its the grey supply thats drying up. Just ensure he is willing to stamp your warranty card and also include the serial number of the items on the official bill, otherwise something is fishy.

Actually I take that back, I thought the 937 is a little costlier.

Im not saying you need to bargain for the enclosure, just tell him to round of the total amount including his installation charges and damping too.

JBL GTO 607c- 5200/- is an extremely good deal. Are you sure it is with COMPANY bill and warranty ? Not the chalu warranty given by dealers !
