Hello all.
Just got my swift VDI ABS

Now I am in dilemma, whether to go for Dzire’s integrated stereo (costing me 8K) or to go for a Pioneer model.
I just love the design of integrated stereo, though not sure about its sound quality.

For speakers, I have finalized JBL GTO 607 and GTO 937.
As I understand from this forum, Driven is the best place for the installation.
Can somebody PM me their no and also let me know if they sell speakers without B & W

Shashant I would advice you to go for the Pioneer HU . Pio 6050 would be the best bet . I think it costs around 8300-500 without B&W.

@ Balao keep us informed where you got your audio installed at Chennai and what did you finally go for and at what price. The said information would be highly valuable for me.

Default Car audio for new Swift

Hey guys, a friend of mine in Delhi just bought a new Swift. He sent me the following message:

Hi just wanted to ask you a few questions as i am abot to buy my car audio system

i would need a HUD, Speaker: 4" for the front and 6x9" for the back

For the main speakers
Which Brand JBL,Sony or pioneer
three way or four way
Which is the best frequency range so as to get a good base w/o a woofer
(30Hz-35KHz or what?????)
what else should i look for so as to ensure sound quality and a favourable level of Bass range?

What is the ideal specs for the 4" ones

Thanks for all your help
Cheers

-----------------

Would appreciate if you audio gurus help me and him out on this front...it's not something I'm great with. Thanks a lot!

The Swift takes 6.5" speakers in doors easily.

If you really must do without a sub, then 6x9 rear on an MDF tray is good option.

@aniguchisan,
Front: 6.5" 2-way components (like ScarySkulls said, the Swift takes 6.5" in front, so no sense in wasting the opportunity)
Rear
: 6.5" coaxials in stock location in door, or 6x9 ovals (2 way or 3 way, and NOT 4-way) in a parcel tray
HU: Alpine/Pio/Blau, model and make depending on budget.
Amp: If he can spend a minimum of 5.5K on an amp and 2.5K on power & RCA wires, spending extra on an amp would be really worth it. Esp. as he'd like some bass without a sub.
Damping: Spending about 3K to 5K on damping the front door and other areas that rattle would be money well spent, esp. if an amp is added. This can be done later also.

I usually prefer the door install for the rear speakers, but in the case of a Swift, 6x9s in a tray might work out better as you don't need to damp the rear door, and the 6x9s will give better bass.

How much does your friend want to spend in total?

Another Swift audio thread?

I would suggest to stick to 6.5" speakers for the front and 6.5" coaxials for the rear.
Hydra has posted in detail and that covers almost everything one needs.

Does he really need a HUD (Heads Up Display)? Or did he mean HU (Head Unit)?

You should have posted in the existing Swift audio thread in the Ask the Gurus section. This is the Sound Off and Show Off thread - expected to have post-install stories and pics.

- Do i need seperate tweeters on the dash?
- Which sub to go for, a basstube or box enclosure?
- Model number for a appropriate 4 channel JBL amplifier.
For a Swift this is what you should consider

1. damp all 4 doors, undercarpet, firewall and trunk. 6-10K
2: HU: Alpine 9983 or Pio 7xxx. 10-12K
3: Front components: 6K for JBL, Blau, Illusion etc..
4: Rear Coax in rear doors same as above but coax will cost you about 4K
5: Sealed box sub in trunk: 6K
6: a 4 ch amp and a 2 ch amp or a 5/6 ch amp so that all speakers can be powered from amps. 10K
wires and install: 5K
total: about 50K
