Only drawback I can see is that these recordings are so good, that even my crappy 300 buck speakers sound amazing.

This disk is absolutely brilliant. There is a great explanation about every track, what to listen for etc.. If you listen to it carefully, you can easily figure what is missing. The tracks exercise every aspect of any audio system - from amps to speakers to head unit. It can shame some seriously expensive equipment and bring out the best in relatively modest rigs. I use this extensively to tune my home audio system and I must say that if you want one CD to evaluate any audio system or set up including room / car responses - then this is it!

I have downloaded this 'Chesky Ultimate Demonstration' online. But all song files are in APE format. Will it work in my KENWOOD HU? Or do I need to convert to any other format?

Use foobar2000 to convert it to wav and it should play on your kenwood.

You could convert it to mp3, wma or any other lossy format but what's the point?

Whenever someone wants to check out my BOSE system, I usually play the following songs:
1. Hotel California - unplugged
2. O Saaya from Slumdog Millionaire
3. Rock you like a hurricane
4. Dance of Death - Iron Maiden

I recently managed to get hold of the track Thaye Yashoda from the movie Morning Raga and this is now on the top of the list. Gives the speakers a complete workout.

My pick would be:
1. Sweet dreams by benny bennasi
2. love id gone by david guetta
3. shocking silence by benny again
4. into the night by santana and chad
