Forget about audio CDs and jump straight to Hi-Res audio discless playback and get 5-6 times the resolution of audio CDs. Your excellent system deserves it. You can play these from your smartphone, USB flash drive or an external HDD on your Pioneer.

In classic rock genre, unfortunately good recordings are few and far between but anything from Steely Dan, Dire Straits, Led Zep, 10cc, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, REM, Eagles are a safe bet. Specific albums - Steely Dan's Aja & Gaucho, Eric Clapton Unplugged, Metallica Black Album, Eagles Hell Freezes over, Tracy Chapman -S/T, Roger Waters Amused to Death are all textbook recording benchmarks and highly recommended. A good investment is those audiophile demo compilation albums from Chesky, Sennheiser, HeadFi.org to name a few.

In addition, there are many Hollywood OST's which are considered recording benchmarks too. Do check them out.

Old is gold.
Principles of Lust -Enigma
A good sub woofer will do justice to it.

I have been using Kanye West Love Lockdown to audition audio equipment, including headphones. The intial beat, the music, the crescendo, provides a complete experience.

Eric Prydz - Rush from his latest ep Pryda 10 Vol II is a must have and perfect for underground Techno clubs of Berlin.

Do listen guys at top volume with couple of sub woofers maxed out!

Found this track while googling. Guess this makes a very good track for SQ set up testing.

Skunk anansie - Charlie big potato. Awesome metal/rock song. You can hear it in the movie "Hollow Man" in the Porsche scene.

No matter how many thousands of amazing numbers are out there & hopefully will continue to still be made, the one and only song that ever comes to my mind if I'd to show off a sound stage, would be this from the yesteryears -

We Built this City - Starship

Opened scissor doors on a hot hatch and this song blasting off with people mustered up to look like it's some flash mob performing on the streets! Ah!

According to me if your HU supports lossless audio files like FLAC you can get amazing bass in any songs. Some of my favourites are :

Dj Snake - Turn down for what
Badshah - Pinjra
Jay Hardway - Bootcamp
DJ Khalse - Subwoofers (dirty dutch bass mix)
Major Lazer - Watch out for this

Although my HU doesn't support FLAC but above songs gives you some deep bass. So enjoy.

Sultans of Swing.

Anyone who has ever heard a live band will surely get vowed if your music system is top notch. The drums, bass, guitars, vocal - everything is so "live" and perfect and tight in this track.

The only thing missing is the female vocals ...

I found a couple of soundtracks which really go low excellent to test the bass

(The Ending Music from the Wolverine Movie)
( A soundtrack from a rather old computer game but the Low Frequency is very good to my ears)

Note: There will be better tracks out there but I have noticed that both these tracks don't play their full range on speakers or sound systems that don't cover the full 20Hz to 20kHz range, specifically the low frequency parts.

- Wrecking Ball - Miley Cyrus
- Fireflies - Owl City
