Two of the 3" full range drivers that are in your possession, with a custom pod, do an excellent job.

Untill I hear this I wont comment. Did you hear any comb filtering or polar interfereance given that the 3" fullranges are operating over the almost the whole audio range.

I intend to try them solo, then compare them in a 4-in-line to a bessel array. But a bessel array really works best with 2/16 ohm drives given modern amps (that prefer to operate between 4 and 8 ohms).

Ok we are very OT. Did anyone else have the same observations as I about the mix of new DVDs.

Yeah pretty much so... Of late, more and more information is encoded for the center. Hence the use of "proper" center channel on some of our installs...

for example in this one the 6.5" CXS62 is getting 170w cont from a bridged Audison SRx2.

LBM, with newer DVDs mixing a lot of infromation in the center and using the front left and right for ambience I feel that the center might have to beeter if not equal to the left and right fronts.

My post #209 above details my observations. I just wanted to know if others had the same.

ya i also said the same in the next post (210) after I have experinced a lot of examples in 5.1 in which centre channel plays a important role like I said earlier nearly all the dialouge what is going on the screen every thing is on the centre channel. I have a experiance in which there is song playing in the left and right channel and the dialouges in the centre......

also in some hindi movies I have seen the music is coming out of the front L/R channel and the vocals are in the centre channel......

I was out for couple a days and see what happened here!!!

Regarding the 5.1 sound, I agree with everybody. It's hard to enjoy it to the max in a car. You need a big SUV or a truck with a big fat backside to exploit it fully.

Or the config should contain 4 sets of speakers (2 sets of components, 1 set of co-axials and 1 extra centre channel speaker) The components should be placed as in any normal setup (ie. door pads). The extra co-axials must be placed behind the rear seats. And the speakers should be switchable!!! Yup, what I mean is there should be a provision where the rear components can play the front channel when a movie is played. And the extra pair of co-axial speakers behind the back seat should be able to play the rear channels (only when a movie is played). This way, it'll be possible to play the front channel as normal while driving. And when there's a need for 5.1 movie theatre (car theatre) experience, the rear will be playing the front channels and the co-axial behind will be playing the rear channels. And for the extra centre, it should be either fixed in between the front seats or on the roof facing towards the rear seat.

Gurus! How does this crazy wacky idea sounds for you?

So, you mean to say the co-ax will always be playing the rear channels?

Got a lift from Cochin to my house, a distance of soem 190kms, on Speedzak's alto. Superb setup. Loved the DVD demo and later on I saw Ice Age 2 on the screen fixed on the headrest, which can he kept on your legs/thighs.

Impressed.
