A related question- which enclosure material is better for quality of bass, MDF or wood (everything else being same)?

The denser, heavier and stronger the material used to make the box, the better the bass, lesser resonance etc.
So given that, a solid teak box will outperform MDF. Simple.

Sam, I have no DIY plans as such. I sometimes go through DIY threads just for learnings. I asked about wood because I came across a sub which claimed to have deep bass attributed to "wooden" enclosure, while most other subs/speakers I saw in market had MDF. So, just wanted to know whether it really makes difference!

Soomoku, was it?

Which car brand makes real wood enclosures? I'm really curious.

A lot of home audio brands use real wood, and for the price usually you could buy your own tree.

ahemmm...I am really embarrassed! didn't want to mention that name again, but you are very much on spot
Didn't scrape it's surface to see if its really wood or MDF itself, though

Yes, the boy has a rather nasty habit of hitting the spot. lol.
I don't think Kokoloo is made of real wood. Impossible at those prices.

OK... I hope I didn't provoke anybody, and I think it would be better to leave that poor kokoloo alone!

No No santhosh, no need to tread gently. We are all friends. Humour is the binding factor in this section of Team-BHP and that's why it functions differently from the rest of the forum.

he he. wild guess.

like sam says, i doubt its real wood too. and more so if its their tube car sub. tubes cannot be made commercially from mdf, let alone real wood. tubes are mostly layered bonded paper.

that reminds me... umm sam, how would you like an active 1500 w rms class t amplified dual 12" real wood enclosed subwoofer for 10k?

...for your jonga.
