No, does not seem original. Only buy SJ series from authorized resellers.

Hi,

I just got my SJCam SJ4000 WiFi delivered. I had ordered it from Aliexpress, buy it from a reputed seller with good ratings, also read reviews from buyers before you add it to the cart to make sure it is genuine. I got my cam in 3-4 days, it was shipped via DHL at my doorsteps. Make sure you buy the cam with SJCam branding on the front, that is the new lot, older cams did not had any branding, it just had HD Cam written. Also buying from Paypal is safe, you won't need an account, i bought it direct from credit card. All the best.

Here's my cams picture.

Thank you so much for the detailed information. I was too confused so finally went for the GoPro hero. Its costing me around 8.2k as someone would be getting it from the US. The main thing that put me off on the SJCAM was the exposure and battery life. Though i might get the SJCAM as a secondary cam.

Can you pease provide the link of the seller you bought the sj4000 from in aliexpress ? And how much did you pay in total including customs ?

Thanks

Hi,

I bought my cam from http://www.aliexpress.com/item/whole...445307040.html

But still you can go through entire aliexpress.com, use the search option then arrange the listing by "most popular" see the sellers with highest ratings. You might get a good bargain, there are some sellers selling sj4000 wifi cam plus throwing in some goodies along with it like the monopod or the selfie stick, extra battery and charger that too under $100. But make sure to message the seller before placing the order and say them to under value the package. I got mine for Rs. 7000/- plus Rs.1300/- as customs duty. It was DHL so there was no problem with customs, i paid the duty right at my home when the guy came to deliver it. My seller undervalued the package to $34 and marked its as gift because of that my custom duty was less. I suggest you ask the seller to value the package around $25 and mark the package as gift, you would definitely get a good deal then.

All the best.

Of late, I've been using a software called lightworks. It has a free version - the only downside of the free version is you can export the final video only at a max of 720p resolution.

If you want to do p-i-p and other cool stuff, then this is really good. But it has a rather steep learning curve. I'm planning to write a guide for it, as I myself forget how to do some basic things after a month or so!

If all you need is basic editing - like cutting and joining, there would be a lot of alternatives out there, maybe even windows moviemaker would suffice, if they are still supporting it.

A few clips that I made using SJ1000 and lightworks.

Thanks,
Vimal

Windows live movie maker is free and does a decent job. You can use it. If you want lossless cutting, then Avidemux is good. For cutting and joining videos, it can do lossless. Format is retained

I find excessive vibration in my SJ1000 when using the car mount. The vibration is so bad that i cannot look at the video playback. This is on smooth 6 lane expressway. On bad roads i would rather not look the video at all. I can visually see the car mount vibrating even on butter smooth roads. I have tightened all the screws on the mount.

Any suggestions on how to get a vibration free dash footage? My SJ1000 will be a dead investment since i wanted to use it primarily as a dashcam during long drives

Tighten the mount screws.
Secondly, check if there is play between camera and mount, if so, insert a small paper piece for tight fit. Usually takes care of all but the most serious vibrations
