You mean to say that the 13 band version stops at 40Hz?

20, 31.5, 50, 80, 125, 200,315, 500, 800, 1.25k, 2k, 3.15k, 5k, 8k,12.5k, 20k

these are the EQ which are in 8850 but in the 8650 the first two and the last one i.e 20 , 31.5 , 20k are missing. So the last one on the lower freq side in the 8650 is the 50hz.......

Morten, even the 8650 does 355kbps WMA9, I know cuz I owned the unit for a year... That said, go for the 8850.

Well I own a Clarion HX-D2... you dont wanna go there...

I doubt if you disable all processing such as EQ, BBE, Loud etc. on both, you will hear much difference between the two. But still, do listen to them both and make your decision.

LBM just for my info.... do you actually use all these GEQ?...

from what I know, PEQ is any day better than a GEQ... coz almost all the songs, you may not want to adjust the entire frequency range... but only very few of them....this is because in a car, you would have some strange frequency responses.... (due to the shape of the interior etc...),
so only a few frequency bands you need to adjust / boost / change the Q....
For this purpose.... you would only require 5-7max bands of EQ.... am i right?

regards,
ant.

According to me, a well set system barely needs any eq at all.

I agree to it..... but there is nothing called a perfect system.... you would all kinds acoustic "anomolies" (influenced by MATRIX i guess!!..) in a car cabin... so EQ is an unavoidable component.....

the clarion is not for $2000. Its original price is for $1400 but sell for $999
http://www.cardomain.com/item/CLADRZ9255

also it is avalable in delhi for approx 45k thats is afforable if one is makein a pure SQ install in mind.

morten the HX-D2 is not a fancy HU it a serious HU. Also it only play audio CD no mp3 or any thing, But i has a AUX in if any external device u wanna connect but the real sound will me lost if the cd is not played in it....

I again suggest 8850 is the best hu for ur purpose go for it.

about eq it is again personal preference , some like the sound with eq and some without so i would not comment more on that.....right now i am using H701 it has 31 eq (1/3 octave) on all the speaker channels and 10 bands for the sub channel total of 144 eq. I hard adjust a few if one listening pleasure is achieved.
